It was a day of so close. The girls swam well and posted 16 PRs, but we were just shy of those times needed to capture one of the top 12 times in the state in Division 2 in order to swim at the state meet. (The winner at each sectional for each event is an automatic state qualifier so that leaves 12 spots which means the top 12 times in the state go.)

The Albany Historical Society general meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at the Historical Museum, 119 N. Water Street, Albany. The program will be presented by Albany resident Richard Horn, speaking of his experience serving in the U.S. Coast Guard on the Great Lakes, breaking the ice, especially on Lake Erie. Horn was born in Milwaukee County, and attended UW-Madison. Horn worked on two ships, a tug and a buoy-tender. His family has a history of involvement in ships.

High School students in New Glarus are invited to compete in the Annual American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program. The invitation to enter the competition was extended by Post #141 and Green County Council Americanism Chair, David Henning.
The High School Oratorical scholarship Program has the full cooperation of Wisconsin school officials. The New Glarus contest will be conducted at the Veterans Memorial Hall on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Orientation for contestants will begin at 12:30 p.m.

The New Glarus Youth Committee would like to help make every family’s holiday a joyous one. We know that sometimes families are faced with hard times during the year but we believe that a child’s holiday should be special. To that end, our group in cooperation with AnchorBank fsb, New Glarus High School’s National Honor Society and The Bank of New Glarus are participating in a Giving Tree campaign.
