Belleville High School's Students of the Month

Belleville High School's October Students of the Month included (L-R): Kalin O'Rourke, Drew Shrader, Jacob Bowers, Lauren Severson, Andrew DeLorme, Isaac Brummel, Kaylee Yelk, and Alexis McCluskey. Students were treated to a pizza lunch, received movie passes donated by Marcus Theaters, and received their nomination forms from their teachers.

RoboKnights Find Success at Badgerland Regional Competition

New Glarus RoboKnights, the First Lego League robotics team at New Glarus Middle School, had great success at their regional competitions at Madison Memorial High School over the weekend.

Touring the Overture Center

Twenty members of the Monticello High School FBLA and FCCLA chapters, along with their advisers Mark Olson and Linda Marty, toured the Overture Center and Madison College on November 5th.  In addition to a tour of the theaters at Overture Center for the Arts, we heard a panel of five business professionals speak on their experience and responsibilities as a manager at this facility.  At Madison College we toured two of their facilities and heard from current students as to their experiences as a college student at Madison College.

Grand Opening for Very Tres Chic and Paper Moon Tea House

A Grand Opening celebration was held on Sunday, November 8, at two new businesses, Very Tres Chic and Paper Moon Tea House. The two businesses are located in the former Disch Hardware building on the west side of the 400 block of Second Street. The owner of both businesses, Paula Stanton, provided refreshments and greeted visitors while staff members modeled gowns and also visited with guests.

Applicants sought for 2016 Dairy 30x20 Producer Grant

Governor Scott Walker and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) are seeking applications for the next round of Grow Wisconsin Dairy 30x20 producer grants.  The Grow Wisconsin Dairy Producer Grant is a flexible grant available to producers to facilitate operational changes, improve profitability, and increase efficiency.

Community Foundation Honors National Philanthropy Day

On Sunday, November 15, 2015, The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin (CFSW) will join more than 750 community foundations across America to recognize National Philanthropy Day. The day was first celebrated in 1986 in the U.S. with a proclamation from President Ronald Reagan, and is a day set aside to remember and acknowledge the impact philanthropy—charitable giving, volunteering and engagement—has made locally and throughout the world.

An Evening with Jerry Apps

Jerry Apps is well known for his many books on rural history and country life. Jerry will be sharing from his most recent book, Wisconsin Agriculture: A History, on Thursday, November 12th, at 7:00 p.m., at the Belleville High School Auditorium. This program is free and open to the public, thanks to a Beyond the Page grant and the Belleville Public Library.
