Sgt. Arnold Kehrli Jr. has notified his parents here that he has arrived on the west coast. He has been in the South Pacific area the past several years.
Corp. Fred Yaeger is home on a ten-day furlough from Europe. He will then go to an Army camp for final discharge.
Lieut. Kenneth Hoesly was home over Sunday and left on Tuesday for Chanute Field, Illinois, where he was on his way to get his discharge.

Miracle in the Manger

Miracle in The Manger is a drive-thru interpretation of the Nativity story. Members of Washington Reformation and Zwingli UCC will present live action tableaus that illustrate scenes from the original Christmas story. Pastors Kelly Volk and Lance Smith will read the stories live accompanied by Christmas Carols, which will be transmitted on a low frequency band and delivered to your car radio. Participants drive through this presentation and are able to share a community Christmas experience without leaving the safety of their car.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

The New Glarus and Belleville Police Departments will crackdown on drunken motorists during the Winter Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over traffic campaign.
About every three hours in Wisconsin, someone is killed or injured in an alcohol-related crash. Drivers impaired by alcohol or other drugs pose a serious hazard to themselves, their passengers and everyone else along our roadways. Preliminary data indicates that, already in 2020, 166 fatal crashes occurred involving a suspected impaired driver, 31 more than in 2019 at this time.

Letters To Santa

Send your Letters to Santa to us now! We will publish them in the newspaper on December 24, 2020, and will forward them on to Santa in the North Pole in time for Christmas.
You may mail letters to PMR, PO Box 65, New Glarus, WI 53574, email them to pmr@newspubinc.com, fax to (608) 527-5285, or drop them off at our office using the box outside the door. All letters must be received by Noon on Friday, December 18, 2020.

The New Glarus Bible Church, corner of 3rd Avenue and 6th Street, is hosting a Blood Drive on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. While supplies last, you will received a long-sleeved Red Cross t-shirt!

Monticello High School Blood Drive

The Monticello High School is hosting a Blood Drive on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., in the Rehmstedt Gym at the school, 334 S. Main Street in Monticello. By donating at this blood drive, you are helping one or more graduating seniors earn a scholarship.

DHS Launches New Map Visualizations Providing Additional Geographic Breakdowns for COVID-19 Case and Death Data

Continuing its commitment to transparency, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) today released maps and corresponding downloadable data tables that break down confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths by new geographic boundaries, which is available at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/data.htm. The new maps allow Wisconsinites to view existing COVID-19 case and death data by municipalities (cities, towns, and villages), zip code tabulation areas, and school district boundaries.

DHS Announces New COVID-19 Guidance on Quarantine Duration

In response to new guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Department of Health Services (DHS) has updated quarantine guidance for close contacts of someone diagnosed with COVID-19. The updated guidance will go into effect for Wisconsinites on Monday, December 7, 2020, and can be viewed here: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/WIDHS/bulletins/2afa744.
