Lady Ponies Beat Parkview and Pecatonica, Lose to Albany

On December 15th, the Monticello Lady Ponies played at the Parkview Lady Vikings. Up at the half by a single point, Monticello went on to win the game. The final score was Monticello 28, Parkview 22.
“Tough to score for both teams,” said Coach Mark Gustafson about the game. “We played solid defense and did just enough on the offensive end to hold on for the win on the road.”
Mackie Errthum led the team with 13 points, while Harley Disch scored 6 points and McKenna Pfeuti scored 4 points.

Ponies Win Over Belmont and Argyle

The Monticello Ponies hosted the Belmont Braves on December 15th. Monticello went into halftime with an 11-point lead and did not let up on their intensity in the second half. The Ponies won the game, 62-41.
The Ponies jumped out to a 15-3 lead in the first 6 minutes of the game. With less than 10 minutes left in the second half, and leading 41-33, Monticello went on a 14-2 run to put the win out of reach for Belmont.
Coach Mark Olson said, “Belmont was a physical team with length.”

2021 Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Scholarship Applications Now Being Accepted

The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation will award more than $15,000 in scholarships to outstanding Wisconsin 4-H members and alumni pursuing higher education in 2021. To be considered for financial support, applications must be received by the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation via email by Monday, March 15, 2021.
Wisconsin 4-H Foundation scholarships are awarded to students based on demonstrated personal growth through 4-H, development and leadership in 4-H, academic performance and future educational goals.

Wildcats Win Over Waterloo

The Belleville Wildcats played at Waterloo on December 14th. Leading by 3 at the half, Belleville went on to outscore the Pirates 41-18 in the second, and won the game. The final score was Belleville 67, Waterloo 41.
With 18 points, including four 3-pointers, Carson Syse was the high scorer for the Wildcats. Trevor Syse scored 15 points and Gavin Boyum scored 13 points.
The Wildcats played at New Glarus on December 22nd, at Poynette on December 28th, at Edgerton on December 29th and will play at Mineral Point on January 4th.

Miracle in the Manger Christmas Eve at Zwingli in Monticello

Miracle in The Manger is a drive-thru interpretation of the Nativity story. Members of Washington Reformation and Zwingli UCC will present live action tableaus that illustrate scenes from the original Christmas story. Pastors Kelly Volk and Lance Smith will read the stories live accompanied by Christmas Carols, which will be transmitted on a low frequency band and delivered to your car radio. Participants drive through this presentation and are able to share a community Christmas experience without leaving the safety of their car.

Eleanor J. Klassy, age 89, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on February 7, 1931, the daughter of Guy and Ferne (Wunschel) Weckerly in the Town of Wiota, Lafayette County, WI.
