Applications Open Now Through January 15 for Dairy Processor Grants

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) invites Wisconsin dairy processors to apply for the next round of Dairy Processor Grants through January 15, 2021. The funding is intended to foster innovation, improve profitability, and sustain the long-term viability of Wisconsin’s dairy processing facilities. Grant recipients will be announced in February 2021.

Belleville Tops Evansville

On December 10th, the Belleville Wildcats played their first game of the season at Lancaster. The Wildcats led at the half, 33-24, but lost the game by 2 points. The final score was Lancaster 50, Belleville 48.
Trevor Syse, who hit four 3-pointers, was the high scorer for Belleville with 22 points. With three 3-pointers, Carson Syse put 9 points on the board and Gavin Boyum scored 5 points.
On December 12th, Belleville played at Evansville. The Wildcats led at the halftime break, 42-20, and won the game by a score of 68 to 54.

Knights Beats Richland Center After Double Overtime

The New Glarus Knights boys basketball team played at Platteville on December 7th. Leading 36-17 at halftime, the Knights outscored the Hillmen in the second to win the game. The final score was New Glarus 74, Platteville 42.
Dain Walter put 18 points on the board to lead the Knights in scoring, while Carter Siegenthaler, with three 3-pointers, scored 15 points and AC Strok scored 12 points.

Lady Ponies Claim Victories Over Williams Bay and Johnson Creek

On December 7th the Lady Ponies of Monticello hosted Williams Bay. Up by 10 at the half, Monticello outscored Williams Bay in the second half to claim victory. The final score was Monticello 61, Williams Bay 48.
“We had three girls in double figures with Harley Disch, Mackie Errthum, Ellie Gustafson. Mackie and Ellie each had a double double,” said Coach Mark Gustafson. “Our defense was able to force Williams Bay to take some poor shots and we were able to keep a consistent lead on them throughout the game.”

All Monticello businesses and homes are invited to participate in the Christmas Decoration Contest, sponsored by the Monticello Chamber of Commerce. Let’s spread the holiday cheer!
One home and one business will be chosen to win a prize basket from the Monticello Chamber of Commerce. Everyone may vote for businesses and chamber members will vote on residences.

Monticello Community Club Chicken BBQ

The Monticello Community Club will again brave the January cold and cook chicken at the Lake Montesian shelter. The date is January 31, 2021. All details are not available yet; however, chicken will be delivered to local shut ins.
Sign-up sheets will be in local businesses, and a phone number will be published in the next article for the convenience of sign up. Like before, all sales are by preordering. This is BBQ chicken only, not a full meal. More details and costs will be in the next article.
