St. Francis Annual Church Dinner

St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Belleville, Wisconsin, is hosting its annual church dinner on Sunday, October 6, 2019, in the St. Mary of Lourdes Hall, located at 227 Frederick Street. Green County Master Gardeners to Host Fall Education Class

Join the Green County Master Gardener Association volunteers on Saturday, September 28, 2019, to learn more about tackling garden chores this fall! Completing prep work this fall can reward you with a shorter to-do list in the spring and also help eliminate garden pests and diseases, resulting in healthier plants. This fall class will be held at the Green County Justice Center, 2841 6th Street, Monroe, from 9:00 a.m. until Noon.

Oktoberfest and High School Homecoming This Weekend in New Glarus

It’s almost time for New Glarus Oktoberfest! This year New Glarus High School Homecoming is also being held on the same weekend.
Oktoberfest, the annual festival coordinated by the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce, will kick off on Thursday, September 26, and run through Sunday, September 29, 2019.
New this year is a Tug of War exhibition in Village Park on Saturday and Sunday. Teams from Canada, the Royal Air Force team of England, and the Leo’s of Northern Ireland will all be competing, as well as teams from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa.

Safe Ride Program for Oktoberfest

Once again the New Glarus Police Department and the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce will be providing safe rides home during the Oktoberfest weekend on Friday and Saturday nights.
This program is sponsored by Green Cab of Madison and Mosher and Associates in New Glarus. The Safe Ride Program will be operating between 8:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m., from the Oktoberfest grounds.

Area Firefighters Respond to Town of Montrose Blaze

On September 19, 2019, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the Belleville Fire Department was called to a tractor fire on CTH A in the Town of Montrose.
Upon arrival it was discovered that there were multiple tractors, other equipment, and many large hay bales on fire in an open feed lot.

Sixth Annual TJ Disch Memorial Fall Colors Cruise Raises Money for Scholarships

Saturday, September 14, 2019, was a beautiful day to enjoy the TJ Disch Memorial Fall Colors Cruise. Organizers said that over 90 people came out to enjoy the fun and to raise money for the Monticello Fire Department's TJ Disch Scholarship Fund. Before leaving on their tour around the countryside, the group posed for a photo.

New Ambulance For Belleville Area EMS

A brand new ambulance went into service for the Belleville Area EMS on August 22, 2019. The new ambulance allows our service to provide the most reliable form of medical transportation, which is critical, particularly in rural communities. The new ambulance integrates up-to-date safety standards and equipment and functions as a mobile emergency room. One of the new features is an automatic load system, allowing the medical crew to move a patient into and out of the ambulance without having to lift the stretcher.

SAE Grants Now Available Through the Wisconsin FFA Foundation

The Wisconsin FFA Foundation has opened the application process for its 2019 Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Grants. The Foundation’s SAE Grants are available to Wisconsin Association of FFA members in six categories: aquaculture, dairy, grain production, livestock, organic agriculture and start-up.

Governor Evers Announces Opening of the 2020 Broadband Expansion Grant Round

Recently, Governor Tony Evers, joined by Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection Secretary Brad Pfaff, and Public Service Commission of Wisconsin Chairperson Rebecca Cameron Valcq, announced the first round of broadband grants appropriated in the 2019-2021 state biennial budget.
This initial $24 million grant round is the largest in state history and is greater than all seven previous grant rounds put together.
