Above and Beyond the Everyday Daylily Presentation

Are you a Daylily Fan? Do you enjoy the flowers, but would like to know more? Do you know how many varieties there are? Do you like a flower that comes back each year more vibrant than the previous year? These questions and others will be answered at the next Green County Master Gardeners Association meeting, being held on Thursday, September 26, 2019, starting at 6:30 p.m., at the Green County Justice Center, Multi-Purpose Rooms, 2841 6th Street, Monroe, WI.

Ponies Victorious Over Panthers

The Monticello volleyball team hosted a match against Juda on September 10th. The Lady Ponies won in 4, 25-11, 25-10, 19-25, 25-14.
Ellie Gustafson led the team in kills with 15 while Mackie Errthum had 7. Maggie Bak had 3 blocks. Ellie Gustafson had 5 aces. Alexa Siegenthaler had 23 assists.
Results from the match at Pecatonica weren't available by press time.
The team played at Black Hawk on September 17th and will host Argyle on September 19th before heading to Middleton for a tournament on September 21st.

Wildcats Defeat Bulldogs

The Belleville Wildcats moved to 3-1 on Friday with a win over visiting Pardeeville. The game was a defensive struggle as both teams had a hard time getting any sort of offensive momentum going.
Pardeeville opened the scoring in the second quarter via a 38-yard TD run by Derek Lindert. The Wildcat offense was shut out in the first half and their lone scoring play came on a Bulldog safety, which had the score 6-2 going into halftime.

Swim Team Wins Lodi Invite

The Monroe-New Glarus swim team hosted McFarland at the Green County YMCA on September 10th for a meet.
The team of Mekenzie Hammer, Karley Michels, Alyssa Roelli and Morgan Erstad finished 2nd in the 200SC Meter Medley Relay with a time of 2:10.89. Finishing 4th, with a time of 2:19.97, was the team of Kaitlyn Elgin, Peyton Yaun, Samantha Schiro and Anna Newcomer.
In the 200 SC Meter Freestyle event, Anna Newcomer finished 3rd with a time of 2:28.43, while Karley Michels finished 5th with a time of 2:39.50 and Taylor Rufer finished 6th with a time of 2:46.55.

Knights Fall to Blue Devils

The NGM football team hosted Lodi on Friday, September 13th. Luck was unfortunately not on their side, as they lost to the visitors, 44-7.
Lodi jumped ahead by 3 in the first quarter with a 28-yard field goal. NGM pulled ahead for a short time in the 2nd quarter with a 6-yard pass from Mason Martinson to Connor Siegenthaler. Siegenthaler's extra point was good. That was the end of NGM's scoring. By halftime, Lodi was ahead, 16-7.
In the 3rd quarter, Lodi scored 3 TDs and another in the 4th to win the game.

Belleville Wildcat Cross Country Runners Compete at River Valley

The Wildcats ran at the Blackhawk Invite on Saturday in River Valley. It is a big meet, and the kids were very excited to run there. The weather was perfect for racing. The boys team was led this week by junior Jordan Wilder, who finished with a time of 18:53.
The entire girls team saw gains in their times. Tayler Yapp was our first runner in with a time of 22:31. The girls finished 9th of 15 teams. Well done ladies!
This Saturday is our home meet on the High School grounds. First race begins at 9:00 a.m. Hope to see you there!

Raiders Win Over Lake Mills

The Sugar River Raiders hosted Lake Mills on September 10th, winning 3-0.
Charlie Douma scored the first goal at 25:15 on a PK. Nine minutes later, Douma assisted Carter Siegenthaler to bring the score to 2-0 by the end of the 1st half. Ryan Downing scored the final goal for the Raiders at 86:01.
The Raiders took 9 shots and had 5 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Julian Lutz had 5 saves.

Swiss Church Hosting Annual Kilby Supper

Swiss Church will be hosting their annual 2019 Kilby Supper on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Food will be served from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Dining will be at Swiss Church in Fellowship Hall. Carry outs will also be available. Additionally, delivery service is available for those unable to drive downtown to pick up your meals. Please contact the church office at (608) 527-2119 if you would like to make your reservation for a delivery.
