Ponies Best Orioles

The Monticello Ponies volleyball team played at Black Hawk on September 17th, losing in three, 20-25, 16-25, 14-25.
Mackie Errthum led with 3 blocks and also had 6 kills. Miah Brokopp had 12 digs while Sarah Blumer had 9. Ellie Gustafson had 8 kills and Emily Grant had 11 assists.
On September 19th, the team hosted Argyle and won in three, 25-19, 25-16, 26-24.
Ellie Gustafson led the team in kills with 10 and had 3 blocks. Mackie Errthum had 8 kills, Alexa Siegenthaler had 3 aces, Emily Grant had 12 assists and Sarah Blumer had 11 digs.

Lady Knights Earn First Conference Win in Four Years

The New Glarus volleyball team won against Cambridge on September 17th in 5 sets, 25-22, 25-8, 25-10, 20-25, 15-5, which marks their first conference win since 2015.
Alexah Mellenberger led the team with 15 kills, while Lily Himmelmann had 12 kills. Himmelmann had 4 blocks and Mellenberger had 2, Emma Marty also had 2 blocks and Lola Gillaspie had 3 blocks and 5 aces. Grace Nommensen had 28 assists and Ellie Eichelkraut had 3 aces.
On September 19th, the team played at Abundant Life Christian and won in 3, 25-22, 25-16, 25-16.

Sugar River Shuts Out Hustisford/Dodgeland

On September 17th, the Sugar River Raiders played at Hustisford/Dodgeland at Wild Goose Park in Juneau. Sugar River won, 10-0.
Ryan Downing scored 4 goals for the Raiders, while Carter Siegenthaler scored 3 goals, and Ben Lukszys, Charlie Douma and Noah Ziperski all scored 1 goal each. Nine of Sugar River's 10 goals were scored in the first half.
GK Julian Lutz had 5 saves while Cam Kleighboer had 1.
The Raiders hosted Platteville/Lancaster for a non-conference game on September 19th. The Raiders lost, 1-2.

Swim Team Wins Over Watertown

The Monroe-New Glarus swim team competed at Watertown on September 17th. The JV team won, 79-42, and the Varsity team also posted a victory, 121-47.
“Monroe-New Glarus had an awesome meet against Watertown. We saw excellent swims across the board, but specifically from Morgan Erstad in the 200 and 500 Free as well as Libby Fuller in the 100 Fly and 500 Free,” said Coach Kendra Kalvin. “The team is working well together, and spirits are high as we head towards the halfway point of the season.”

Wildcats Rally to Beat Pirates

On Friday night, the Wildcats had to mount a significant comeback to overcome a Waterloo Pirates team that started the game on fire. Waterloo marched down the field on their opening drive and took a 6-0 lead. The rest of the half continued to be dominated by Waterloo as they took an 18-0 lead into halftime, running up nearly 320 yards of offense in the process.

Belleville Hosts Cross Country Meet

This past Saturday our home meet escaped the rain with the exception of awards time. Our custodians worked tirelessly on setting up flags and the finish line and we are very grateful to them! This meet also gave us an opportunity to thank our parents for their never-ending support and our seniors for their leadership and dedication. This year's seniors are Sean Campbell, Julian Fullbright, Brandon Graves, Alan Woller and our manager, Julian Viney. Big kudos also to Gianna Diaz, Emma Veeneman and Angelina Parisot. You will be missed when the season is completed!

Cloudy Day is a Happy Day

The rain holds off and we hold on. No grass grows on the hill in the woods, so a few minutes of rain turns it muddy and slippery. Today's 1-2-3 boys will churn wet clay into a Slip-N-Slide. Fortunately the storms wait until the eleven o'clock awards ceremony. The most treacherous thing the guys need to do is walk down wet bleachers to collect their first place trophy.

Belleville Volleyball Tops Deerfield

On September 17th, the Belleville Wildcats volleyball team played at Wisconsin Heights, losing in three, 22-25, 25-15, 25-22.
Brooke Everson led the team in kills with 9 and had 1 block. Ava Foley had 12 digs and 8 kills. Callie Everson had 1 block, while Jenna Shrader had 1 ace. Erin Kittleson had 19 assists.
The Wildcats hosted Deerfield on September 19th and won in three, 26-24, 25-18, 25-14.

Knights Pick Up Road Win

On Friday, September 20th, the NGM Football Team traveled to Marshall for the first conference game of the season. The Knights forced an early turnover when Jackson Darrow recovered a fumble. The Knights drove down inside the five-yard line, but were not able to score and the first quarter ended with the Knights with the ball and a 0-0 score.
