Raiders Remain Undefeated in Conference

On May 12, on a night that honored parents and teachers, the Raiders were dominate in a game against Capital Conference opponent Lakeside Lutheran. Showcasing their intensity, speed, attacking offense and shutdown defense, the Raiders put on a show for the fans scoring nine goals and securing the team's eighth shutout of the season. Scoring two goals each for the Raiders were Hannah Donlin, Taylor Legler and Vanessa Narveson. Adding to the Raider score with a goal apiece were Kendell Goecke, Brooke Larson and Jamie Ott. Final: Sugar River 9, Lakeside Lutheran 0.

Kinderchor Rehearsals Begin

Kinderchor rehearsals begin on Monday, June 1, at 6:30 p.m., at the New Glarus Home Campus. We meet outside under the shelter near the Multi-Purpose room and Chapel. Enrollment fee is $15.00 per member. Children ages 5 and up are welcome to participate.
New Glarus Kinderchor participates in the local festivals. This year we’re excited to include Volksfest, Wilhelm Tell Festival, and Saengerfest on the schedule, as well as the Wisconsin State Fair. Dress rehearsals will take place at Tofflers again this year, and will be announced as the schedule develops.

Dedication Ceremony

The New Glarus Veterans Memorial Park Board is dedicating five more benches on Memorial Day Monday, May 25, 2015. Fundraising is complete for the benches. The dedication ceremony will begin immediately after the parade and program at the Elementary School, approximately at 11:00 a.m.

Know Your Library: Moving Forward

On May 5, 2015, the New Glarus Village Board unanimously passed a Resolution that reflects the results of the 2014 referendum on the library-building project. Specifically, the New Glarus Village Board has endorsed Glarner Park as the new downtown home of the library, and has agreed to reserve $1,000,000 in borrowing capacity for the library project.

Girl Scout Cookie Booth Fundraiser – To Benefit The Ronald McDonald House

Senior Girl Scout Troop 2037 is holding a cookie fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House-Madison on Saturday, May 23, 2015, from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.  The booth will be located at the bottom of the Swiss Church (intersects between 1st Street and 5th Avenue).  The Ronald McDonald House provides a home-away-from home for families while their child receives treatment at area hospitals.  The girls are planning to volunteer and prepare a meal for the house.  They would like to surprise them with a truckload of cookies!!  Buy a box for charity and if you’re hungry – buy a box for yourself!

Open House at Swiss Historical Village & Museum

The New Glarus Historical Society is holding an open house at the Swiss Historical Village and Museum on Sunday, May 31, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Daniel and Diane Ziehli, Belleville, will present information about bee-keeping and producing honey beginning at 3:00 p.m. Visitors will have an opportunity to tour the Swiss Style Bienenhaus or Bee House on the Village Grounds. Light refreshments will be served. Admission to the Historical Village for this special event is free.

New Glarus Poppy Princess

Allyson Judd (age 6), Junior Auxiliary Member, is the daughter of Jeff and Melanie Judd. Her grandparents are Dan and Linda Stolts, Jerry and Barb Judd and Neal Zweifel. Allyson's great-grandparents are Alfred (United States Army) and Carla Ufken. She is the niece of Chief Warrant Officer Alen Zweifel, United States Marine Corps, currently stationed in Iwaukuni, Japan, along with his wife, Reyna, and their two sons.

Green County Fair Association Seeks Talent Contestants

The Green County Fair Association is sponsoring a sanctioned Wisconsin State Fair Junior Amateur Talent Competition on Saturday, July 25, 2015, during the Green County Fair. There will be two age division contests where each first place winner will move onto the state competition scheduled for August 14, 2015. Applications are available through the Monday, June 21, 2015, deadline date.

Monticello Cabaret Dinner Concert

Ms. Becker, Mr. Pollock, and Monticello Music Parents are very thankful for everyone who came to support the music department at their first Cabaret Dinner Concert. We were able to raise about $2,800 to help fund a variety music related activities, including scholarships to graduating seniors.
