Monticello Man Charged With Illegally Possessing Ammunition

A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin, sitting in Madison, returned an indictment against Justin Wenger, 37, Monticello, on March 4, 2020. A charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Wenger is charged with being a Felon in Possession of Ammunition. The indictment alleges that he possessed .223 caliber ammunition on January 16, 2020.

Monticello Lions Pancake Brunch

The Monticello Lions Club will be holding their annual Pancake Brunch on Sunday, March 15, 2020, in the Rhemstedt Gym at the Monticello School from 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. On the menu are Pancakes, Sausage Links, Applesauce, Cheese (including Limburger!) and your choice of beverage. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids 12 and under.
The Brunch is sponsored by the Monticello Lions Club and the Monticello Boys Basketball Team.

Mussehl Receives Louis M. Sasman Award

Mitchell Mussehl (center), member of the Belleville FFA Chapter, was recently presented with the Louis M. Sasman Award by John Esser, President of the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison. They are joined by the FFA Chapter advisor, Melissa Knudson.
The Sasman Award is given annually to an outstanding student from each of the FFA Chapters at Dane County High Schools. Mr. Sasman was the State Supervisor for Vocational Education for 36 years, and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Madison for over 40 years.

Duppler-Smith American Legion Post #460 Belleville will be holding Winter Bingo on Sunday, March 29th.
Doors open at Noon, Bingo starts at 1:00 p.m. Cash Prizes determined by number of players. Food and refreshments served.

Belleville High School Science Night and Outdoors Club Soup Supper

Come check out what Belleville Chemistry and Physics students are working on at the Belleville High School Science Night and Outdoors Club Soup Supper on Thursday, March 19, 2020.
The Soup Supper will take place in the Commons at the Belleville High School from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Science Presentations will take place in the Science Hallway from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. A Science Show in the Auditorium beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Belleville Music Students Participate in Solo and Ensemble

On February 29th, over 50 Belleville High School students participated in the Capitol Conference South District Solo and Ensemble Festival. The student performances ranged from vocal and instrumental solos, to duets, trios, and even large groups such as: Jazz Ensemble, Vocal Jazz, Flute Choir, and Triple Trios. Students who received a rating of a starred first in Class A will be participating in State Solo Ensemble at UW-Platteville on April 25th. Mrs. Meir and Mrs. Krueger were extremely proud of their students' performance and wish to congratulate them on a job well done!

Carol J. Krentz, age 80, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on November 12, 1939, in New Glarus, WI, the daughter of Ralph and Louena (Wild) Goodman.

Skott Harold Kampfer, age 54 of Blanchardville, died on March 3, 2020, at the UW Hospital from complications from diabetes and surgery. He was born to James Kampfer Sr. and Anne Marie Bratrud Emberson on November 8, 1965, in Monroe.

Pfc. Dean Gmur, patient at Shick General Hospital at Clinton, IA, was home over the weekend.
Pvt. Jacob Schmoker and Pvt. Wayne Showers were here from Ft. Sheridan on Sunday.
A record group of 243 pre-inductees reported at Milwaukee last Wednesday for pre-induction physicals and re-classifications. Many were men working on farms. There were seven busloads.
