TDS Offering 1Gig Internet in Monticello For the First Time

It has been a year in the making, but TDS Telecom’s (TDS®) new fiber-to-the-home network is now available to Monticello residents. Up to 1Gig internet service has launched to more than 650 addresses. The new availability also brings upload speeds up to 400Mbps with no data caps. TDS will continue to offer TDS TV®, their all-digital TV offering, as well as phone service.

Pvt. Palmer E. Hefty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hefty, is now in France.

Voters Encouraged to Take Advantage of Absentee Ballots

To encourage the practice of social distancing due to the COVID-19 virus, we strongly encourage voters to take advantage of Absentee mail in voting for the April Election. Absentee ballots can be requested through MyVote Wisconsin at https://myvote.wi.gov or the application can be found at: https://newglarusvillage.com/government/elections-voting. You can also contact the Village Clerk’s Office at (608) 527-2510 for assistance.

Monticello Library Closure

In response to Governor Tony Evers’ orders to close all K-12 schools and prohibiting large gatherings, the Monticello Public Library will close at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, March 16, and will remain closed at least through Sunday, April 5. We will be reevaluating the situation daily and will provide further updates if these plans should change.

Monticello Chamber of Commerce Honors New Business Owners With Ribbon Cutting and First Dollar Awards

Congratulations to Maria Harvey, Victoria Boley, and Theresa Scott for opening their own businesses. They each have their own independent salon inside The Total Look Company's building in downtown Monticello. The Monticello Chamber of Commerce held Ribbon Cuttings and First Dollar presentations on Friday, March 6.

Belleville Library Closure

Belleville Public Library will close at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, March 16, and remain closed at least through Sunday, April 5. The closing date was moved up from March 19th in response to the announcement on March 15th that all Dane County schools would be closing immediately.
The coronavirus COVID-19 situation will be monitored closely and further updates will be provided if these plans change.

Belleville High School Students of the Month

On Thursday, March 12, Belleville High School staff recognized their Students of the Month from February. Staff from each department nominated one student. Teachers commented not only on students' contributions to the school, but their personalities that help make class brighter each day. Students received a personalized certificate from their nominating teacher, a pizza lunch, and movie passes donated by Marcus Theatres. Congratulations to these Wildcats on their efforts entering the Spring season!

Belleville Middle School Students of the Month

On Friday, March 6, Belleville Middle School core staff, along with their Agriculture and World Languages teachers, recognized seventh and eighth grade Students of the Month from February. Seventh grade students were recognized in front of their peers in Mr. Swenson's room, while eighth grade students were recognized with their classmates in Mrs. Schultz's classroom. Students received a certificate, Catty Shack bucks to the school store, and the opportunity to put their handprints up in the middle school's Literacy Lounge.

Dane County Sheriff's Office Announces Temporary Changes in Operation

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office wants to make the public aware of some temporary changes to our operations to help minimize the risks of COVID-19 to the public, our employees and inmates in the Dane County Jail. Please understand this is an ever-changing situation and we will continue to update the public on adjustments as they occur. As always, public safety is our highest priority.
