RoboKnights Find Success at Badgerland Regional Competition

New Glarus RoboKnights, the First Lego League robotics team at New Glarus Middle School, had great success at their regional competitions at Madison Memorial High School over the weekend.
New Glarus Middle School had four teams compete in Madison. Teams competing on Saturday at the Badgerland Regional included: Girls Rock!, The Trashinators, and Team Trash Tech. All three teams had strong showings, with Team Trash Tech advancing to Sectional competition in December. On Sunday, Recycle Rampage (pictured) won the Champion's Award at the Wolfpack Regional. This award goes to a team that is strong in innovation, team building (including core values and gracious professionalism) robot building and program coding.  Team Recycle Rampage was very strong in all areas.  They will also advance to Sectional competition.
First Lego League introduces young people (grades 4-8), to the fun and excitement of science and technology while building self-confidence, knowledge, and valuable career and life skills.  The program challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. Alongside adult Mentors, teams solve problems using engineering concepts, presentation techniques, and robots.  Teams of 10 students each have approximately eight weeks to learn teamwork skills, explore a research topic, design, build, and program an autonomous robot, and engage with their community.
