The Monticello Lady Ponies hosted Black Hawk on January 24th. Monticello took a 25-11 lead into halftime and played hard in the second half to win the game. The final score was Monticello 51, Black Hawk 30.
Ellie Gustafson and Jaden Zuber both scored 12 points to lead Monticello, with Gustafson having 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block and Zuber having 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Dalana Trumpy scored 11 points with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block and Karlee Wilkins scored 10 points with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.

On January 26th, the Monticello Ponies boys basketball team hosted the Argyle Orioles. Monticello was down 22-34 at the half, and couldn’t muster enough offense in the second to get anything going. The final score was Argyle 60, Monticello 40.

On Saturday, January 28th, the Sugar River Raiders wrestling team competed at the Wisconsin Dells Invitational against 14 other teams.
Blake Endres (32-7), wrestling at 113 lbs, placed first and scored 28 team points. Endres received a bye in Round 1 and in the Quarterfinal won by fall over Watertown’s Finn Mulligan. In the Semifinal, Endres won by decision over Riverdale’s Brody Miess and in the First Place Match won by fall over Nick Ersland of Wisconsin Dells.

New Glarus fourth and fifth grade students created clay ornaments in art class as a fundraiser for Green Cares Food Pantry. The ornaments were sold at Brenda's Blumenladen over the holidays.
New Glarus Elementary School Art teacher Sarah Kranz recently presented Tammie Jamiska and Cheryl Wilson, of Green Cares Food Pantry, with a check in the amount of $1,755 from their fundraising efforts.
