All four of the Nork Cowboy couples roped 100 plus calves away from the J&M Bar River Rats. Don Field and Steve Dower lost only their first and sixth games to ride point for the Cowboys, with 116 calves corralled. Harold Schlimgen and Dean Disch followed just three paces behind them with 113 calves to their credit. With all the mud created from all the cattle, the J&M Bar River Rats slipped 61 points back into the river with only one Rat couple reaching 100 points.
For the second straight week all four Red Mouse Shuffler couples exceeded 100 points and recorded at least a share of the week’s high score. This week Shane Kahl and Steve Vogt took that honor with 118 points. They lost just their fifth game to the Red Mouse Uff-Da couple of Mary Humphrey and Dan Meinholz. Shuffler Dave Herfel slipped this week without his wife Loretta as his partner. He and his partner Randy Skogen scored just 117 points instead of the 118 Dave and Loretta scored last week. Uff-Da players Bruce Milestone and Curt Herfel stopped Dave and Randy in the final game to keep them from the perfect score. The Shufflers danced all over the shoes of Uff-Da to win by 68 points.
The Kleeman Hay Shakers and the Morgan Pipe Benders were tied at the half but then the Pipe Benders dropped their wrenches and started their slide. They found themselves down by 6 points after five frames and ended up losing by 28. There were two contributing factors to the Pipe Benders’ loss. The first came when Jerome Krantz and Derek Schmitz had trouble capping off Roger Truttmann and Rick Skindrud in the fourth frame. Jerome and Derek had Roger and Rick down 14 to 0, but allowed them to stack 11 bails before Jerome and Derek could close the barn door. The second came when Pipe Benders Tracy Buetel and Ross Nesheim did a final tally of their score at the end of the night and it totaled just 74 points, this week’s low score.
The Ope Haus Express had to spray a little sand on the tracks to keep pace with Viking Bar & Grill Trolls Erica Funseth and Keith Vobraska, who recorded 111 miles of travel this week. The sand was just enough for Engineers Charlie Steinhauer and Shawn Farrell to equal Erica and Keith’s 111 miles. The rest of the engineers recorded enough track time to outrun the Trolls by 47 miles.
In the match between the Norsk Pranksters and the Ott Haus Cheese Eaters, the Cheese Eaters took an early 24-point lead. By the end of the sixth frame, the lead was down to 11. At this point the Pranksters had had enough and pulled out their wands to magically win the last eight games. Laurel Grindle and Larry Losenegger pulled out the biggest trick, securing 116 points for the Pranksters. The Pranksters ended up winning this one by 34 points.
