Ponies Fall to Orioles

On January 26th, the Monticello Ponies boys basketball team hosted the Argyle Orioles. Monticello was down 22-34 at the half, and couldn’t muster enough offense in the second to get anything going. The final score was Argyle 60, Monticello 40.
The Orioles took a quick 8-0 lead right off the bat, but the Ponies battled back to make it a fairly even game throughout the first half until Argyle stepped up their offense at the end of the half to take a 12-point lead into the break. Argyle resumed the game with a 9-2 run to go up by 19 and the closest the Ponies could get was 13 points for the rest of the game.
Jackson Eyler and Ryer Indergand both scored 11 points for the Ponies, with Eyler pulling down 6 rebounds while Indergand had 8. Nick Roe scored 10 points and Peyton Smith had 10 rebounds.
The Ponies are currently in fifth place in the Six Rivers East conference, with a 2-6 conference record (4-13 overall). They played Juda on January 31st. On February 3rd they’re hosing a Six Rivers Crossover game against Shullsburg and will host Black Hawk on February 9th and Pecatonica on February 14th.
