Winter Bingo Returns

Winter Bingo is resuming at Duppler-Smith Post 460 American Legion, 2 W. Pearl Street, Belleville. Dates are Sunday, February 26, 2023, Sunday, March 26, 2023, and Sunday, April 30, 2023.
Doors open at Noon, Bingo starts at 1:00 p.m. Cash prizes determined by number of players. Food and refreshments served.

Primrose Pancake Breakfast

Sunday, February 19 will be the 22nd annual Pancake Breakfast at 10:00 a.m. to support Primrose Youth with Sugar Creek Camp Scholarships. This will be a dine in or carry out event.
There will be a Mardi Gras Celebration Festival for the younger children during the worship service prior to the meal and then breakfast with the family.

Annual Euchre Card Parties

Join the Sugar River Senior Center for their annual Euchre card parties. Card play starts at 1:00 p.m., at SRSC with an early dinner to follow card play. Cost is $6.00 per person.
The card parties will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2023, and Saturday, March 25, 2023. The Sugar River Senior Center is located at 21 S. Vine Street in Belleville.

Meat Processor Grant Applications Due in March

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) invites Wisconsin meat processors to apply for meat processor grants through March 17, 2023. The program aims to grow Wisconsin’s meat industry and improve the long-term viability of the state’s livestock industry.

Scam Warning

A town of Bristol woman is out $3,500 after she was victimized by a telephone scammer claiming to be a Sun Prairie Police Officer.
The thief claimed the victim had been subpoenaed and she needed to pay him, or she would be charged with a crime. The woman initially paid the scammer over $7,000 through the two different money transfer apps. She discovered it was a scam after she called Sun Prairie Police, and she was able to cancel a portion of the payments. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fraud.

Save the Date for This Celebration of Lafayette County History

The Lafayette County Historical and Genealogy society will hold the county history celebration, “Night (and Day) at the Museum – 2023”, September 15 through 17. Mark your calendars for this three-day event at Veterans Park on Main Street and the Society Museum. This is wholesome and educational indoor and outdoor fun for the whole family. Schools are encouraged to both participate and bring students as visitors on Friday the 15th.

Local Voters Will Head to the Polls February 21 for Supreme Court Primary

The Wisconsin Supreme court seat left open by the retirement of Justice Patience Roggensack who served two terms on the state’s highest court has a field of four who would like to fill her seat.
Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Daniel Kelly, and circuit court judges Everett Mitchell (Dane County), Jennifer Dorow (Waukesha County) and Janet Protasiewicz (Milwaukee County) will run in the Feb. 21 Spring Primary, with the top two competing in the April 4 Spring Election.

New Multimedia Campaign Focuses on 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

Evers’ declaration that 2023 is the Year of Mental Health, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) announced last week that the implementation of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in Wisconsin is moving to its next phase—a year-long multimedia campaign to ensure all state residents know this free and confidential service is here to support people experiencing a suicidal, mental health, or substance use crisis.

Theater Guild Kicks Off Season With ^Steel Magnolias^"

At their annual meeting, January 10, 2023, Monroe Theatre Guild announced their 2023 Colony Brands Season. The new year begins with <i>Steel Magnolias</i>, directed by Jennie Lembach. The director shared her personal relationship to the story having lost a family member to Diabetes, making this a must-direct for her alongside Assistant Director, Jonah Levia.

A Beautiful Day for the Monticello Lions Club Fisheree

What a beautiful day for the Monticello Lions Fisheree held on Sunday, February 5th. The sun was shining and everyone enjoyed it! The enclosed shelter was used by many to enjoy some refreshments and visit with other fishermen. So great to see so many kids!
The winners of the raffle were 1st place, Curt Johnsrud; 2nd place, Dave Disch; and 3rd place, Barb Clark. Congratulations!! Many fish were caught by the children and some received a prize for their catch. There was also a prize for the largest fish caught. Fun was had by all.
