The Albany Lions Club is holding their 56th Annual Pancake Day on Saturday, February 11, 2023, serving from 7:00 a.m. until Noon.

2022 Tax Assistance Appointments

Appointments are now available for free income tax preparation services for low to moderate income, elderly and disabled persons through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide programs. Assistance provided includes the preparation of federal and state (including homestead) income taxes. Appointments are available in Monroe on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning February 6th, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Green County Government Services Building, N3152 State Road 81, Monroe, WI. Insurance Commissioner Recognizes Flood Insurance Awareness Week

Governor Tony Evers has proclaimed February 5-11, 2023, as Flood Insurance Awareness Week in Wisconsin to recognize our state’s increasing flood risk and the importance of having appropriate insurance coverage.
Most homeowners and renters insurance policies do not cover flood damage, but flood insurance is available to protect your home and belongings through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) or a private insurance policy. Gov. Evers, DOA, PSC Recognize National Energy Assistance Day

In honor of National Energy Assistance Day on February 1, 2023, Gov. Tony Evers, the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA), and the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) are sharing a reminder that the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) is here to help residential households with energy assistance and weatherization needs. Each year, more than 200,000 households across the state turn to WHEAP for help with their heating and electric bills.

Sugar River Euchre

The Norsk Pranksters, looking to improve their record to 4 and 1, found the road to victory so deep in their magical hat that it was virtually impossible to retrieve. Dave Hook and Laurel Grindle gave it their all, scoring 113 points for the Pranksters. But once again Dave Herfel, along with his partner Tom Meyer, came through for the Red Mouse Shufflers, depositing 111 points in the Shufflers’ account. Taking an early 7-point lead after one, the Shufflers increased that lead to 28 points by the end of the fourth frame.

Belleville Beats Belmont

On January 31st, the Belleville Lady Wildcats played at Belmont. Belleville led 22-15 at the half and went on to win the game, ending on a 20-0 run. The final score was Belleville 50, Belmont 38.
Lainey Winkers led Belleville with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals while Toria Devoe and Addy Edge scored 8 points apiece, with Devoe having 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals and Edge having 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals, and Mikayla Caskey scored 7 points and had 6 rebounds.

Lady Knights Ranked Fifth in Division 4 in Coaches Poll

The New Glarus Lady Knights (Division 4) hosted Mount Horeb (Division 2) on January 30th. Leading 55-27 at the half, New Glarus took the win. The final score was New Glarus 77, Mount Horeb 48.
Lindsey Schadewalt led the Knights with 31 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals while Grace Nommensen scored 15 points and had 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal and Elle Lancaster scored 13 points with 2 rebounds and 1 steal.
