Sugar River Soccer Remains Undefeated in Conference Play

Sugar River hosted Lodi for a conference match on September 26th, winning 2-0.
“Very tough conference game,” commented Coach Kyle Webber. “Both teams played very hard.”
At the end of the first half, the score was tied 0-0.
At the open of the second half, Sugar River’s Jack Gentilli played a great corner towards the backside of the goal and Jaden Kreklow scored. Sugar River’s second goal came ten minutes later and was scored by Charlie Douma, scoring his first of the season, assisted by Justin Knoebl.
Tyler Boeck recorded six saves for the game.

Sugar River Euchre League's 87th Season to Begin October 5th

The Sugar River Euchre League will begin on Thursday, October 5, with 10 teams, consisting of eight players each, competing for this year’s (the 87th year) championship trophy.

Several Wildcat Runners Set New PRs

The Wildcat Runners saw success and personal bests in Platteville Saturday. Instead of hot and humid conditions, we had cool and crisp weather. 
The boy's team placed 7th overall, with all Varsity runners running in under 20:00. The team was led by Julian Fullbright (18:45) and Caden O'Rourke (18:52), who also received ribbons. Following Julian and Caden were Otto Anson (19:28), Derek Shrader (19:30), Gary Salmela (19:49) and Sean Campbell (19:52). Each of these scores were season PRs! Well done boys!

Shakespeare on the Edge Receives JEM Grant

Shakespeare on the Edge, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization that serves all of Green County, Wisconsin, and provides outreach in Southern Wisconsin communities to build self-respect, respect for others and self-empowerment through the art of Shakespeare, has just received a Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism in the amount of $34,687 for A Gathering of Rogues and Ruffians – A Renaissance Faire taking place on October 14-15, 2017. The projected economic impact of this event is approximately between $462,000 to over $500,000 during the two day faire.

New Glarus Schools Seeks Community Input

The New Glarus School District is in the process of setting the direction of the District for the next five years. Our world is constantly evolving, and so are our schools. With advances in technology and changing mindsets, our students and educators are faced with new challenges every day. The top priority of the Board of Education is to establish a vision for the school district that fully prepares students for life after high school. It is the Board’s responsibility to constantly monitor the schools to make sure the needs of all students are met.

6th Annual New Glarus Car Show

The 6th Annual New Glarus Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show will draw visitors to downtown New Glarus on Sunday, October 8th.
Registration will be at Tofflers and will begin at 9:30 a.m. and awards will be presented at 2:30 p.m. There is an entry fee of $10.00, and the first 100 entrants will receive a dash plaque. Learn How to Make Monoprints

This fall, the New Glarus Public Library is once again partnering with the Driftless Area Artists.  Join us on Thursday, October 12th, at 7:00 p.m., in the New Glarus Village Hall Community Room where several DAA members will give a presentation on monoprinting.  Then you will get to try your hand at it and make some beautiful art to take home.
All ages are welcome.  This event is free and open to the public.

Get your Bucky Books now from New Glarus FCCLA! Bucky Books are being sold through the first week in November. The cost is $35.00 per book. FCCLA will receive $15.00 from each Bucky Book sold.
