The Green County Health Department reports that a dead Blackbird found in Brodhead on June 27, 2017, has tested positive for West Nile virus. This is the first bird that tested positive for West Nile virus in Green County since surveillance for the mosquito-transmitted virus began May 1, 2017.

Sunborn Flowers, 9593 Overland Road, Mount Horeb, WI, will be hosting the Green County Master Gardeners for a tour on Thursday, July 27th, at 7:00 p.m. This tour is also open to the general public for participation. Join the tour of this unique flower farm where you will see a variety of shrubs, perennials, bulbs and annuals all planted for cutting for bouquets. Sunborn Flowers farms intensively on about four irrigated acres, with three hoophouses. Carol Larsen, along with her son, Hans Larsen, will be our tour guides for the evening.

The Annual Art Fair, organized by the Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce, invites more than 150 artists exhibiting works in mixed media, ceramics, drawings, graphics, prints, fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, metal, paintings, photography, sculpture, woodwork, and more! The event will also feature live music, food trucks and outdoor dining. Located downtown on Mount Horeb’s Historic Main Street, the charming event venue fits in alongside the art.

Join American photographer and teacher, Jarryd Lowder, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the New Glarus Village Hall in the Community Room for a presentation about his experiences living in Glarus, Switzerland. As a photographer for the Glarner Woche newspaper, Lowder had the opportunity to get to know the fascinating culture and amazing landscape of Kanton Glarus.
