Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Dane County proudly announces that it welcomed the 10,000th volunteer into its ranks this year, which also marks the organization’s 45th anniversary.

Laurel C. Steele, age 77 of Belleville, WI, died on Monday, July 17, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born December 2, 1939, to Edgar and Alvena (Knudtson) Moen.
Laurel was united in marriage to Wallace E. Steele on November 22, 1958, at Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville, WI. She was a member of Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville, WI.
Survivors include her husband, Wally; her daughter, Debra (LaVerne) Wealti of Belleville; grandchildren, Travis, Ryan (Tiffani Owen), and Alex; other relatives and friends.

Rose Burke, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law and friend, surrendered her soul to heaven at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family on July 17, 2017, at Four Winds Lodge in Verona. Rose was born on December 16, 1933, to Elmer and Selma Johns, in the village of Lanesboro, MN.

For years, volunteers have worked on getting a new library in New Glarus that meets the needs of our growing community.  In the June 21st letter to the editor, there were questions and comments raised about the library project.  To address these issues, the Library Board would like to respond and provide additional information on the progress of the library project.
