Counties Sought to Host 2019 Alice in Dairyland Finals

Organizations interested in promoting their county’s agriculture industry and other businesses are encouraged to consider hosting the 72nd Alice in Dairyland Finals in May 2019. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is accepting bids from a Wisconsin county or counties to host the event. Local economic development organizations and agriculture promotional organizations are encouraged to consider this opportunity to welcome to their county visitors and media professionals from around the state.

Five Green County area youth were recently selected to receive scholarships through the annual Dairy Youth Recognition Auction Scholarship program. The scholarships are funded through proceeds garnered from the Green County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction that is held in conjunction with the Cheese Auction conducted by the Foreign Type Cheesemakers Association at the County Fair.

Dane County Executive Parisi Cuts Ribbon for New Falk Wells Sugar River Wildlife Area Trail

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi cut the ribbon recently for a new scenic nature trail at the Falk Wells Sugar River Wildlife Area, in the Towns of Montrose and Verona. The county finished clearing the final stretch of the nearly two-mile hiking corridor after recently acquiring a new section of surrounding property.

Monroe Clinic Offers ^Good News About Joint Pain^"

Joint pain, whether mild or severe, does not necessarily come with age. Finding out the source of the pain can help determine how to alleviate it. Monroe Clinic will host a free seminar, “Good News About Joint Pain,” on July 20, from 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., at Monroe Clinic, 515 22nd Avenue, Monroe, in the ICU Conference Room, Hospital 1st Floor.
The presentation covers several options for relieving joint pain, such as medications, exercise and therapy, lifestyle changes and surgical options.

Storm Damage Causes Trail Closures

A storm with heavy rain and high winds that moved through southwestern and south central Wisconsin Wednesday night resulted in significant tree and flood damage on both the Sugar River and Badger State Trails, as well as trails at Wyalusing and Lake Kegonsa state parks.
The Sugar River Trail is closed in its entirety, from New Glarus to Brodhead, until further notice. The southern portion of the Badger Trail, from Exeter Crossing Road just north of Monticello, to Melvin Road just south of Monroe, will be closed until approximately July 10th.

Jessie Garrison Participates in 2017 WFSCA All Star Game

Monticello graduating senior Jessie Garrison participated in the 2017 WFSCA All-Star Game on June 13th at The Woodside Sports Complex in Wisconsin Dells.  Players from around the state participated and raised over $25,000 for Special Olympics.  Black Hawk's Samantha Lovelace and Darlington's Callie Norton were also on the D4/5 Blue team.

Belleville Bobcat Youth Football, Inc. Equipment Handout

Equipment fitting and handout will be on Sunday, July 16th, and Thursday, July 20th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Belleville Intermediate School/C.H. Hageman Gym. Any boy or girl who will be in grades 4-8 this fall and either attends or resides in the Belleville School District can participate. All players must register online before they can receive their equipment. 16th Annual Pedal For Paws Benefit Bike Ride

All new routes depart downtown from Village Park in New Glarus. 25, 45, and 65-mile routes with varying elevations up 3,500 feet. Helmets are required for all participants.
Check in starts at 7:00 a.m. Complimentary rest/refreshment stops. SAG service provided until 2:00 p.m.
