Storms Batter Area Last Week

With reported rainfalls last week of four inches or more, as well as high winds in some storms, emergency and utility workers were kept busy trying to clean up.
There was wide spread flooding by the weekend and numerous roads were closed due to high water. Hundreds of residents in our area were without electricity, with some of the outages lasting for two or more days. Next Job Fair at the Green County Outreach Center on July 26th

The Summer 2017 Green County Job Fair will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Blackhawk Technical College – Monroe Campus, 210 Fourth Avenue, Monroe. The event will be held from 3:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. A variety of employers from both the public and private sectors will be eager to hire for over 500 immediate openings in a wide range of fields.

Naturalist Programs at Yellowstone Lake State Park

Bring your kids and your curiosity up to Yellowstone Lake for fun, hands-on nature study programs with our Park Naturalist, Mark Sturnik.  Meet in the amphitheater near the campground. 
Programs are free, but admission to the state park requires a vehicle admission sticker.  The Park Naturalist is funded by The Friends of Yellowstone Lake State Park.  Yellowstone is located at 8495 Lake Road, Blanchardville and the Park Office can be reached at 608-523-4427.

Rachel Gilson, Green County Fairest of the Fair

Gruezi! My name is Rachel Gilson and I am the 2017 Green County Fairest of the Fair. My parents are Robert and Cindy Gilson. I am a senior this year at the University of Wisconsin- Platteville, where I will graduate in December with a Major in Dairy Science and a Minor in Agribusiness. On campus, I am a very active member of the Pioneer Dairy Club and Pioneer NAMA (National Agri-Marketing Association).

Music in the Park

On Sunday, July 23, the Capitol Chordsmen, a barbershop group, will entertain us from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., in the New Glarus Village Park.  The audience is encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating.  Rain relocation is at the chapel of the New Glarus Home.

The Brazen Dropouts Cycling Team Presents Tour of Little Switzerland

Join us July 29-30 for the Tour of Little Switzerland, presented by Madison’s Brazen Dropouts Cycling Team! Last year we brought you the inaugural New Glarus Road Race, and this year we’re taking things to the next level. This event will consist of three bike races: a time trial and road race on Saturday, followed by a spectator-friendly criterium in downtown New Glarus on Sunday.
