Whitney Disch is currently a freshman at UW-Madison, where she is studying Psychology and plans to study Nursing in the future. She aspires to work as a nurse in the behavioral health department so she can work with people who have mental and psychological illnesses. Whitney grew up in the Town of Monroe where she was active in volleyball, basketball, track and field, softball, forensics and choir. She served as the 2013-2015 Monroe Dairy Queen. At the UW she is an active Badger Volunteer and she is also part of the Aspiring Nurses Association.

Southwest Minnesota State University will hold its 47th annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9.  Over 695 graduate and undergraduate students are candidates for master’s, bachelor’s and associate’s degrees, with approximately 415 of those candidates participating in the ceremony starting at 10:00 a.m., in the R/A Facility on the SMSU campus in Marshall, Minn. The class of 2015 includes students who will graduate with honors. They are indicated as follows: *Cum Laude 3.30-3.49 grade-point-average); **Magna Cum Laude 3.50-3.79); and ***Summa Cum Laude 3.80-4.0.).

New Glarus received its twentieth consecutive Tree City USA award and a total of 29 trees were planted in New Glarus on Friday, May 1, as part of the village's annual Arbor Day tree planting.
Adult volunteers and New Glarus High School students, under the direction of Dan Ziegler, joined Village Forester Paul Jennrich in planting trees throughout the village.

On Saturday, May 2, the Wildcats baseball team squared off against Wisconsin Dells at home. Belleville was defeated 14-4, with Gorski taking the loss on the mound.
Gorski pitched the first three innings earning three strikeouts while also walking one and allowing 11 hits, 12 runs, and 10 earned runs. Schwoegler then hurled the ball the next three innings where he had two hits, two runs, one earned run and no walks or strikeouts.
Offensively, McNamer was one for two, and Shrader was one for three.
