Andrew Molencamp to Compete in DAAA National Games in St. Louis

Local athlete Andrew Molencamp, Monticello, will compete in basketball at the Dwarf Athletic Association of America (DAAA) National Games in St. Louis, Missouri, from July 4 through July 8, 2015.  Molencamp last competed in DAAA in 2006, participating in basketball and baseball.  He is a recent graduate of New Glarus High School, where he was a member of the cross country, basketball and baseball teams.

Monticello Homecoming Kicks Off On Thursday, July 9th

Monticello Community Club would like to welcome you to our annual celebration in Monticello, beginning with softball on Thursday, July 9, and continuing throughout the weekend. We have many activities that you are welcome to come and watch, and even participate in! Again this year, we have a carnival for the kids – the same carnival as last year, expanded a bit. Wristband times are Thursday night from 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., and again Sunday afternoon from Noon until 4:00 p.m.

New School Board Members Ready to Serve

New school board members Jill Remy and Julie Porto are ready to serve the Belleville School District. Remy was one of the write-in candidates and will serve a one-year term. Porto will serve a three-year term.
Porto earned a degree from Iowa State University and raised five children, who attended the Johnston School District in Iowa. During those years, Porto served in the Parent-Teacher Organization, Band Parents Association and also served on the committee for the districts master plan for education.

Single Oak Farm Country Garden Stroll

Driving north on HWY 92 toward Mount Vernon on Sunday afternoon, the sun was positioned just perfectly, casting its light upon the farmland ahead. The woods were all of their various shades of green; the smell of freshly cut hay filled the air. Off in the distance, Mt Julia, one of three high spots that before our Norwegian ancestors settled the area, served as look out points and guide posts for the Winnebago people of Chief Spotted Arm tribe, as they made their way back home to their village, straddling the Dane and Green County line, two miles to the south.

New Glarus Little League Selected as Madison Mallards' Game of the Week

Monday night, June 29, the Madison Mallards and TDS chose the New Glarus vs. Belleville games as their Community Nights Little League Game of the Week. The two games were played at Veterans Park in New Glarus.
Mascots Maynard Mallard and Clicky from TDS were on hand, as well as marketing staff members from both TDS and the Madison Mallards. Between innings, there were contests held to entertain the crowd, incluing the ^Coach's Ribbon Dance^" during the 4th Grade Game. Both the New Glarus and Belleville head coaches put on a great show

William J. Clark Sr.

William (Bill) John Clark Sr. of Albany, WI, passed away on June 25, 2015, surrounded by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Clark, and parents, John and Mary Clark.
Bill is survived by his sons, William Jr. (Donna) Clark, John (Victoria) Clark; grandchildren, Sarah, Garth and Brandon; great-grandson, Adrian; and his very special adopted grandchildren, Benjamin Mead, Sarah Rose, Anna Rashbaum and William Prinkey. Bill is also survived by his nine siblings, as well as many nieces and nephews.
