New school board members Jill Remy and Julie Porto are ready to serve the Belleville School District. Remy was one of the write-in candidates and will serve a one-year term. Porto will serve a three-year term.
Porto earned a degree from Iowa State University and raised five children, who attended the Johnston School District in Iowa. During those years, Porto served in the Parent-Teacher Organization, Band Parents Association and also served on the committee for the districts master plan for education.
About one year ago, Porto retired from The Madison Group and is volunteering for LifeSmarts at the state and national levels. She is married to Bill Wilcox, who is the president of the CBM Credit Education Foundation and has three grandchildren in the Belleville School District.
Remy and her husband, John, have two sons, Andrew and Ben. Her current job is ADA Test Accommodations Manager for the National Conference of Bar Examiners. Remy has 15 years of experience working in licensing education and examinations for the State of Wisconsin as Bar Examination Manager for Wisconsin Supreme Court Board of Bar Examiners and as Manager of Office of Education and Examinations at the Department of Safety and Professional Services-Regulation and Licensing.
