RUTH M. ZIMMERMAN

Ruth M. Zimmerman, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the New Glarus Home. She was born on May 19, 1925, the daughter of Julius and Alice (Hefty) Eichelkraut.
On February 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Jacob Walter Zimmerman Jr. at the Swiss Church parsonage in New Glarus. Ruth was a mother, homemaker, and farm wife. She was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus and the Postville Ladies Aid.

JOANNE M. KRONSTEDT

Joanne M. (Alderman) Kronstedt, age 66, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Our House Assisted Living in Wisconsin Dells. She was born on February 18, 1955, the daughter of Isaac and Marion (Moritz) Alderman.
Joanne graduated from New Glarus High School in 1973. She had married Nathan Kronstedt and had one son, Isaac, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Joanne is survived by her brother, Eugene Alderman; sisters-in-law, Jenny and Beau Alderman; nieces and nephews.

Elsbeth Freitag, age 85, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on July 17, 1936, the daughter of Rufus and Mary Bess (Herrick) Freitag in Champaign/Urbana, IL.

New Glarus Celebrates Its Heritage

Last weekend, New Glarus celebrated its 175th Anniversary, one year late due to the pandemic. The celebration included events in the Village Park, the Lions Club Annual Chicken BBQ, visitors, including WI Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes and Bruno Ryff, Consul General of Switzerland in Chicago. On Saturday there was the parade, (along with an airplane pulling a 'Happy Birthday' banner and the annual New Glarus Fire Department's Firefest.
