Accident on STH 69 Injures Three

Green County Deputies, New Glarus Area EMS, and the New Glarus Fire Department responded to the intersection of STH 69 and Old Madison Road, in the Town of New Glarus, for a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries on July 30th.

New Glarus Woods State Park Trail Run

The New Glarus Woods State Park will be hosting a Trail Run on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Runners can participate in 5M and 10M runs, along with a 1 Mile Run/Walk. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., racing begins at 9:30 a.m.
This is the first annual event, and a part of the Savanna Trail Run Series. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Friends of the New Glarus Woods State Park.

USDA Opens Signup for Market Facilitation Program

Signup opened July 29, 2019, for the Market Facilitation Program (MFP), a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) program to assist farmers who continue to suffer from damages because of unjustified trade retaliation from foreign nations. Through MFP, USDA will provide up to $14.5 billion in direct payments to impacted producers, part of a broader trade relief package announced in late July. The sign-up period runs through December 6, 2019.

Green County Healthy Community Coalition Presents ^Family Fun Triathlon^"

Join the Family Fun Triathlon, hosted by the Green County Healthy Community Coalition and the Green County Community Health Endowment Fund! The event will take place Saturday, August 17, starting at 9:00 a.m., with yoga on the north side of the square, followed by a walk from the square to Twining Park, and will finish with WERQ Dance Fitness. Afterwards, stay and enjoy the wonderful Main Street Monroe Farmers Market. There is no pre-registration required, when you arrive, simply check in at the tent with balloons on 10th Street.

Green County Genealogical Society Workshop to be held September 7th

Lori Bessler, Wisconsin Historical Society Reference Librarian, will present “Organizing & Analyzing Your Research” and “Meet Mrs. George H. James: Writing a Biographical Sketch” in the workshop morning sessions. Afternoon sessions include discussions on “Publishing Ideas and Costs” and “Using Social Media, Blogs, Etc.”
Lunch is guaranteed for those who register by the early bird deadline of August 23rd. The workshop registration fee is $25.00 before August 23rd, and $30.00 after.

The head of the nation’s largest veterans organization thanked President Trump for signing a bipartisan act which will recognize veterans who served during periods not previously considered “wartime.”

Parent Files Complaint With DPI Against New Glarus School District

Last spring, a New Glarus parent of a special needs child filed a complaint with the Department of Public Instruction against the New Glarus School District under state and federal special education. The parent said that despite numerous attempts to work out the issues, the school had not addressed the needs of their child. The family said they were frustrated after not having their questions answered and sometimes being told completely different things by members of the staff.

The Sounds of One Achord Featured at the 2nd Annual Zwingli Brotherhood Steak Fry August 24th

On Saturday, August 24, 2019, from 4:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., join the members of One Achord singing group as they share tunes that we all know and love. Pop, Country, Folk and Rock are just a few of the genres that will be featured. They are singing because they are part of 2nd Annual Zwingli Brotherhood Steak Fry.
