Alphornman Triathlon Raises Over $4,000 for Youth Recreation and Sports Activities

The New Glarus Alphornman Sprint Triathlon & AlphornKids Splash ‘N Dash was held on Sunday, August 4, and was a big success, raising over $4,000 for youth recreation and sports activities in the New Glarus area! Over 140 triathletes, ages 6 to 73, participated in the event. A big thank you goes to the over 100 volunteers who helped make the event run smoothly. Thanks also to the “real” Alphornmen, who gave the participants a short concert to start the event.

NGM Football to Open 2019 Season Friday, August 23, Against Dodgeville

Unless you have been in a state of comatose inaction, you are no doubt aware that the 2019 football season is upon us. NFL, College, and yes high school teams are busy in their pre-season camps. The WIAA high school season officially kicks off statewide Friday, August 23. NGM opens the season by playing host to the Dodgers of Dodgeville.
Dodgeville is looking to avenge last year's opening night loss to the Knights. Both teams are looking to start the year with a victory. Patrons can expect a game high in energy and rich with intensity. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

Exeter Park Cruise Night

The second Exeter Park Cruise Night of the summer was held on August 15, 2019, in Exeter Park, Dayton. The nearly perfect weather helped with the great turnout of cars, trucks, motorcycles and of course spectators.

Community Foundation Accepting Grant Applications

The New Glarus Community Foundation is accepting grant applications from nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations that provide direct service to the New Glarus community and from local government entities providing charitable programs to New Glarus. Requests from individuals are not eligible.
The New Glarus Excellence in Education Fund is accepting grant applications from schools in the New Glarus School District to support classroom programs or projects.

Swiss Church Mission Book Expo

On Sunday, September 1, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Swiss United Church of Christ is having its annual Wisconsin Author Book Sale. This is when Wisconsin authors get together to support the Swiss Church’s All God’s Children Mission - a mission that helps children in El Salvador go to school. This mission has been active for over 20 years and helps 100 plus children attend school every year.

One Achord to Perform at Zwingli Brotherhood Steak Fry

On Saturday, August 24, 2019, from 4:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., join the members of One Achord singing group as they share tunes that we all know and love. Pop, Country, Folk and Rock are just a few of the genres that will be featured. They are singing because they are part of 2nd Annual Zwingli Brotherhood Steak Fry.
Twelve oz rib steaks, cooked to order, fresh picked corn on the cob, baked potato, coleslaw and roll topped off with cool tasty ice cream. This is a meal not to miss!

End of Summer Dance

On Friday, August 23rd, the Belleville School District and the Belleville Area Cares Coalition will sponsor a post-football game dance following the game against New Holstein. The dance will start immediately after the game and go to 11:00 p.m., in the Middle/High School gymnasium. The dance is for middle and high school students. Music will be provided by a DJ. Documentary ^No Small Matter^" to be Presented at Growing Tree in New Glarus"

The Growing Tree, Corrine’s Little Explorers, and Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA) invite you to attend our free public screening of <i>No Small Matter </i>on Thursday, September 12, 2019, starting at 6:00 p.m., followed by a panel discussion at about 7:15 p.m. The screening will be at The Growing Tree, 11 13th Avenue in New Glarus.
