On April 23, the U.S. will celebrate National Lost Dog Awareness Day (NLDAD). This canine-focused awareness day was created by Lost Dogs of America to bring attention to the many dogs who go missing from their homes every day. We are proud that some local rescues and shelters use NLDAD as an opportunity to schedule events focused on lost dogs, such as low cost microchipping. The community is invited to take a walk in the shoes of someone with dementia through the use of the internationally known Virtual Dementia Tour on Thursday, April 25, 2019, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the New Glarus Home, located at 600 2nd Avenue in New Glarus. The Virtual Dementia Tour is a 10-minute sensory experience that helps give those with full cognition the ability to understand what the disease of dementia sounds, looks and feels like.

The Monticello Ponies track team participated in the Glendenning Invitational in Monroe on April 8th.

In the 100M dash, Cade Femrite placed 10th.
In the 200M dash, Cade Femrite placed 8th, while Wade Noriega placed 16th.
In the 400M run, Cade Femrite placed 8th, while Lucas Heiser placed 20th.
In the 800M run, Logan Blum placed 9th, while Tristin Flanagan placed 10th and Lucas Heiser placed 15th.
In the 1600M run, Rudy Wicker placed 5th, while Braylon Hoesly placed 9th and Sam Allard placed 11th.

The Sugar River track team competed at the Capitol South Quad in Cambridge on April 9th. All results listed here are unofficial and incomplete as of press time.

In the 100M dash, Sawyer Fahey placed 8th, while Patrick Samon placed 11th and Demarious King placed 12th.
In the 200M dash, Jjay Wenger placed 3rd, while Milo Hoesly placed 5th and Demarious King placed 9th.
In the 400M run, Milo Hoesly placed 4th and William Blunt placed 7th.
