New Glarus Post Prom Trip Planned for -May 4th

This year we are planning a Post Prom trip to the Kalahari Water Park in Wisconsin Dells. The Post Prom Party will begin at 11:15 p.m. loading the buses for the trip and returning to New Glarus and be finished at 7:15 a.m., following Prom on May 4th.

Amvets Receive Plaque Honoring Francis Beers

Amvets Post 69 of New Glarus received a plaque from the Wisconsin Amvets organization to recognize Francis Beers and his contributions to all veterans.
Mr. Beers gifted money to Amvets Wisconsin hospital fund from his estate. Francis Beers was a founding member of Post 69, which is located in New Glarus.
Any veteran wishing to join, or who would like more information on this organization, may call Post Commander Dennis Orr at (608) 527-2150.

Monticello Easter Egg Hunt

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Monticello Village Park on Saturday, April 20, 2019, beginning at 10:30 a.m. sharp. Don’t be late, or you’ll miss it!!
The youngest age group is 0-2 years and the oldest age group is fourth grade. The Easter Bunny will be present to greet the children and will also be available for photos.

Third Annual Silent Auction

The Friends of the Belleville Public Library’s Third Annual Silent Auction is underway. This year we have so many nice things to offer thanks to generous donations by community members and local businesses.
There are several American Girl dolls that would be put a smile on any girl’s face, with books and accessories. A former art teacher has donated over a dozen framed photos. They are incredible. Also up for bid are beautiful quilts and other handmade items. And, we have wine.

Stepping On Workshops Help Belleville Residents Prevent Falls

One in every four adults over age 65 falls every year, and Wisconsin’s rate of falls is more than twice the national average. But falling is not normal for older adults and older adults can learn how to take steps to prevent falls.
Stepping On, a workshop offered in Wisconsin, teaches older adults to do just that. Research shows that adults who take the workshop gain confidence, reduce falls by over 30% and have fewer hospitalizations and emergency department visits.

Citizen Response To Active Shooter Events (CRASE)

The Green County Sheriff’s Office is offering C.R.A.S.E (Citizen Response to Active Shooter Event) training to the community. In this training, participants will learn how to prepare for and respond to being trapped inside a building during an active shooter event. They will also learn steps that can be taken to assist law enforcement and to help limit casualties in such an event. This training is free of charge and any resident of Green County is encouraged to attend. There will be an additional training coming in the Fall of 2019.

Seven Sugar River Youth Wrestlers Place at State Tournament

On Friday, March 22nd, 10 of the 13 Sugar River youth wrestlers took to the mats at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. It was a HUGE DAY for the boys and coaches, as six came home placing in the TOP 5 or better in their corresponding 16 man brackets! Here are results of boys: Zecheriah Bair, 4x qualifier, wrestled at 63# and unfortunately lost both matches right away and was done for day. Blake Endres, 67# 3x qualifier, came away with 5th place going 4-2 for his day. Mason Mau, 82# 1st TIME qualifier, went 4-2 for the day bringing home 5th place proudly.
