Students Take Stage in WSMA Middle Level State Honors Concerts

Many of Wisconsin’s most accomplished junior high and middle school music students (band, choir and orchestra) will perform in Waunakee on Saturday, October 28, at the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) Middle Level State Honors Music Project concerts.
Throughout the state, 316 students in grades 6-8 were selected from over 1,100 who auditioned for the program in April. Auditions included individual student performances and an ensemble class, taught by an Honors adjudicator. Selection was based on several elements of music performance.

New Glarus Library to Host Author

The New Glarus Public Library is hosting an upcoming program featuring author Matthew Janzen. Matt will be presenting photos and stories of his unique journey through Wisconsin, capturing the people and places behind the state’s extensive craft beer industry. They will explore every aspect of the brewing process, documenting the fields and factories that supply breweries with everything from hops and barley to brewing equipment and tap handles. There will be time after the event to talk with the author and purchase his book.

American Legion Thanksgiving Dinner

The New Glarus American Legion will be holding their annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at the American Legion building, located at the corner of 2nd Street and 12th Avenue.
All Legion and Auxiliary members, along with their spouses, are invited. Carry out and delivery is available.
Social Hour will be from 5:15 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Quilts of Valor will be presented and guests will be introduced. Before meal meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m., and we will eat at 6:30 p.m. The Legion Meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m.

New Glarus home delivered meal volunteers are needed for up to one hour delivering meals to homebound individuals on Thursdays.

Don't Let the Kids Have All the Fun!

On Saturday, October 28th, the New Glarus Vision Group will hold their 13th Annual Halloween Party for adults (ages 21 and over ONLY).
The party will be held at the Tell Shooting Barn at N8741 CTH O, New Glarus.
Entertainment will be provided so put on your dancing shoes and prepare to have fun! Costumes are encouraged and admission is free although donations are appreciated.

Halloween Fun Day

The New Glarus Jr. FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) will sponsor a Halloween Fun Day from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the New Glarus Middle School in the Multi-Purpose Room. A variety of games in a carnival atmosphere will be played. Games cost between one and two tickets, and tickets may be purchased for 25 cents each. A costume contest will be held at 6:00 p.m. There are three age divisions for the contest, preschool, K-2 and 3-6. The Jr. FCCLA will also be collecting food for a food pantry.

Sugar River Transit serves residents of any age of Belleville, New Glarus, and Monticello by offering an on-demand service on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. – <strong>please note the new hours of operation. </strong>Pick-ups and drop offs are available anywhere in Belleville, New Glarus, and Monticello, and can help you visit your local clinic, get groceries, try a program at the Senior Center, or visit a friend for lunch.

Haunticello Planned for October 28, 2017

Monticello’s Haunticello will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the Monticello High School. Please enter by the main gym and concession stand. Haunticello Fest will take place after Trick or Treating, which is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. in the Village of Monticello.
The concession stand will open at 5:30 p.m., and Costume Judging will take place at 6:00 p.m., with cash prizes in five age categories, including an adult category.
