Local Author to Speak About Brewery Tour of the State

Author and Wisconsin native Matthew Janzen will speak about his recently published book, <i>State of Craft Beer</i>, at the New Glarus Public Library on Thursday, November 9th, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. This event is free to the public and guests will be invited to Puempel’s Olde Tavern afterward, where talk attendees (21+) will be treated to Wisconsin beer specials in celebration of the book’s release.

Explore Pointillism – With a Twist

The New Glarus Public Library and the Driftless Area Artists are again partnering on Thursday, November 2nd, at 7:00 p.m., for a fun art workshop in the New Glarus Village Hall Community Room.
This time they will be exploring pointillism, with a twist. With q-tips and paint, attendants can try their hand at recreating simple patterns or famous works of art—or something out of their own imagination. 
This event is free and open to the public, with no registration required.  Children welcome (with parental supervision).

American Legion Thanksgiving Dinner

The New Glarus American Legion will be holding their annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at the American Legion building, located at the corner of 2nd Street and 12th Avenue.
All Legion and Auxiliary members, along with their spouses, are invited. Carry out and delivery is available.
Social Hour will be from 5:15 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Quilts of Valor will be presented and guests will be introduced. Before meal meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m., and we will eat at 6:30 p.m. The Legion Meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Community Invited to Veterans Day Program

The annual Veterans Day Program held at New Glarus High School will take place in the New Glarus High School Gymnasium at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, November 10, 2017.  A Veterans Appreciation Luncheon, hosted by the New Glarus High School Student Council, will follow the program in the High School Library Media Center.

New Glarus Attends Wisconsin FCCLA Leadership Academy

On Friday, October 13th, the New Glarus Middle School and High School FCCLA Chapters attended the Wisconsin FCCLA Leadership Academy in Madison, Wisconsin. The Wisconsin FCCLA Leadership Academy offers opportunities for students and advisers to learn from a featured keynote speaker, and attend various breakout sessions coordinated by the Wisconsin FCCLA state officers. FCCLA Regional Representatives also meet to establish further leadership development.

Santa Coming to Monticello

Santa Claus is coming to town!!  Santa will make his annual pre-Christmas visit to Monticello on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Monticello Fire Station. While Santa greets the children there and hears their wishes for Christmas, his elves are working hard to set up a special shop for the children to buy gifts for their family members.  Santa’s Workshop increases in popularity each year, and this year looks to be every bit as exciting and well-attended, but it can’t happen without your help.  Santa’s Workshop will be open from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Monticello Track and Field Raising Money for New Record Display

The Monticello Track and Field program is seeking monetary donations to cover the cost of placing a new record display in the Elmer Lemon Gymnasium. The total cost for this project is projected to be $1,749.00.
If you would be interested in helping with this project, please send your monetary donations to the following address: Monticello Schools, Attention Coach Brian Butzler, 334 S. Main St., Monticello, WI 53570.
Our goal is to have the funds by December of 2017, and have an unveiling at our homecoming basketball game in January 2018.

New Glarus and Monticello Cub and Boy Scout Drive

The New Glarus and Monticello Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are holding a Food Drive for Green Cares Food Pantry and new and gently used toys for Green County children in need. The drive will go through November 30, 2017.
In New Glarus, you may donate at Roy’s Market, UB&T-New Glarus and the New Glarus Village Hall. In Monticello you may donate at Gempeler’s Supermarket, Greenwoods State Bank and the Monticello Village Hall.

Veterans Day Program

Community members are cordially invited to attend the annual Veterans Day Program to be held on November 9, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., in the Rehmstedt Gym. The program will pay tribute to those men and women who have served our country. There will be patriotic readings, music and poetry.
