Village of New Glarus to Hold Connect Communities Kickoff Meeting

The Village of New Glarus is pleased to announce that New Glarus was recently selected by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) as one of fifteen communities around the state to participate in their Connect Communities program. The Connect Communities program is aimed at helping local and community leaders leverage the unique assets of their downtowns and commercial districts, provide access to resources for local downtown revitalization and enhancement efforts.

Monticello Village Board Holds Public Hearing Regarding North Monroe Street Project

The regular Monticello Village Board meeting last week was preceded by a Public Hearing. Bart Nies, of Delta III Engineering, presented attendees with the Sidewalk and Curb & Gutter Assessments for the North Monroe Street Project. Nies told attendees that the project had been completed two months ahead of schedule and under budget. He noted that most assessments came in 25% -30% below the estimates that had been presented in February. Nies also answered questions about remaining landscaping issues, water runoff issues, and the placement of manhole covers, as well as others.

St. Francis to Hold Annual Dinner

St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Belleville, is hosting its annual church dinner on Sunday, October 2, 2016, in the St. Mary of Lourdes Church Hall located at 227 Frederick Street. Carry out orders and drive through pick up will be available at the St. Francis of Assisi Church, located at 338 S. Harrison Street.
The dinner, which is all you can eat served family style, features Roast Pork, Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, Applesauce, Coleslaw, Dinner Rolls and Homemade Pies. Serving time is from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The Econo-mizers and Kiwanis Club are sponsoring a Blood Drive on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The Blood Drive will be held at St. Mary of Lourdes, 221 Frederick Street, Belleville.

Nolden Accomplishes Highest Math Score in State

Belleville Middle School student Jack Nolden was recently presented with a plaque from the Math League, an organization dedicated to high-level math enrichment. Based in New Jersey, the Math League conducts state, national, and international contests for grades 4-12, and is a popular math activity in many Wisconsin schools.
