Belleville Softball Loses to Monticello

On Thursday, April 16, the Belleville softball team traveled to Waterloo where they lost in six innings, 12-2.
Freshman Cassidy Heller started on the mound, pitching four innings and two outs. She struck out two and walked one while giving up 12 runs on 11 hits with nine of those runs being earned. Junior Ryley Helwig came in as the reliever walking one and giving up a hit.

Secretary Allen Visits BES during Money Smart Week

Secretary of the Department of Financial Institutions Ray Allen visited the Belleville Elementary School as part of The Big Read Program during Money Smart Week last Thursday, and presented the students with a 10-year challenge to become rich using the information that they learned during the week.

Donor Memorial Quilt on Display at Monroe Clinic: Highlights the Need for Organ, Tissue, and Eye Donors

A special quilt honoring the contributions of tissue donors and their families is on display until April 30, at Monroe Clinic, 515 22nd Avenue, Monroe. Monroe Clinic is sponsoring the exhibit to increase donation awareness during April – National Donate Life Month.
The quilt is on loan from RTI Donor Services. The not-for-profit tissue recovery network shares handmade quilts with health care partners like Monroe Clinic to raise awareness of the critical need and importance of organ, tissue and eye donation.

Belleville Public Library Hosts Paint Night

To conclude the National Library Week celebration, the Friends of the Belleville Public Library hosted a paint night. Eighteen people attended and no two paintings were alike.
