Haunted Trail in Belleville CANCELED

Unfortunately, the decision has been made to cancel this year's Haunted Trail in Belleville. Organizers hope to be able to bring it back for 2022.

Sugar River Euchre

Hooray, it is great to be playing Euchre again! After more than a year and a half off, we have finally put the first week of the 90th season of the Sugar River Euchre League in the books. What a fun night it was for most. But not so much for Norsk Cowboys, Don Field and Steve Dower. Pipe Benders Jerome Krantz and Ryan Arneson showed no mercy in placing Don and Steve on the wrong end of the skunk in the very first game of the night. Ouch! Don’t worry, Don and Steve, I am sure there will be plenty of us joining you before the season is over.

Lady Wildcats to Face Fennimore in Regionals

The Belleville Varsity volleyball team hosted Waterloo on October 12th. The Lady Wildcats lost in three, 13-25; 13-25; 16-25.
Mikayla Caskey had 3 kills and 1 ace, while Callie Smith had 2 kills and 2 blocks, Kenna Edge had 4 assists, Addy Edge had 3 assists, Ava Foley had 7 digs and Ava Benash had 3 digs.
Belleville is seeded #6 for the WIAA Division 3 Regionals and hosted #11 Fennimore on October 19th. The winner goes on to face the winner of the #3 Wisconsin Heights vs #14 Cambridge match on October 21st at an undetermined place.

New Glarus Volleyball Closes Out Regular Season With Two Wins

On October 12th, the New Glarus Varsity volleyball team defeated the Wisconsin Heights Vanguards 3-1, 12-25; 28-26; 25-23; 26-24.
Team leaders included Grace Nommensen, with 14 kills, 19 assists and 9 digs, Lindsey Schadewalt with 10 kills, 16 assists and 5 digs, Emma Marty with 18 digs and 3 aces and Amber Horn with 9 kills and 3 solo blocks.
On October 14th, the Lady Knights won over Marshall in four sets, 25-21; 26-24; 21-25; 25-17.

Swimmers Compete in McFarland and Sauk Prairie

The Monroe/New Glarus girls swim team competed against McFarland on October 12th.
In the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay, the team of Morgan Erstad, Karley Michels, Mazie Paradis and Delaney Lynch placed 2nd with a time of 2:12.81. Coming in at 4th place was the team of Samantha Schiro, Elsa Schaefer, Keeley Mulligan and Kristina Foley with a time of 2:26.55.
In the 200 SC Meter Freestyle, Karley Michels came in 4th with a time of 2:40.37, while Taylor Rufer finished 5th with a time of 2:42.66 and Samantha Schiro finished 6th with a time of 2:44.08.

Wildcats Win Over Mineral Point

On October 15th, the Belleville Wildcats football team played at Mineral Point for the final game of their regular season. The Wildcats won, 35-7. They finished the regular season 5-2 in the SWAL conference, tied for second place with Cuba City.

Belleville CC Competes at Watertown

The Capitol Conference meet was held at Brand-Quirk Park in Watertown last Saturday and hosted by Watertown Luther Prep. Our conference, the Capitol South, consisted of Belleville, Waterloo, WI Heights/Barneveld, Deerfield/Cambridge, New Glarus/Monticello and Marshall.

Trunk or Treat in New Glarus

Swiss UCC is hosting a safe and friendly Halloween alternative, “Trunk or Treat”, on Sunday, October 31st, from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Meet at the New Glarus Home Parking lot.
Children will receive a sack lunch and goodies as they go car to car. This event is welcome to all children of the community. In case of inclement weather, you may drive by the north side of Swiss Church (by the park/pool) and we will bring the treats to your car! Please join us!

Monticello/New Glarus Boy Scouts to Sell Wreaths

The Monticello/New Glarus Boy Scout Troop 106 will be selling wreaths, sprays and garland this fall as a fundraiser to pay for summer camps.

Chamber Presents Tips to Non-Profits

Pictured are representatives from the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce and the seven local groups that volunteered at 2021's New Glarus Oktoberfest. In exchange for providing volunteers to tend bar and sell tokens, all tips made at the bar during their shifts were donated to a non-profit of their choice. The groups earned over $2,400 for their efforts.
