On October 15th, the Belleville Wildcats football team played at Mineral Point for the final game of their regular season. The Wildcats won, 35-7. They finished the regular season 5-2 in the SWAL conference, tied for second place with Cuba City.
Mineral Point put the first points on the board, but those were the only points that they would score. Belleville's Trevor Syse ran it in from 1-yard out near the end of the first quarter and kicked the extra point to tie it up 7-7. The Wildcats scored twice more in the second quarter. Trevor Syse floated a 34-yard pass to Demarcus Conner for a score and Syse scored the extra point. Near the end of the second, Syse hit Anthony Nolden from 25 yards out and scored the extra point. The halftime score was 21-7.
In the third quarter, Trevor Syse ran it in from 6 yards out to score and kicked the extra point. Belleville's final touchdown was scored with 50 seconds left in the third quarter on a 30-yard pass from Syse to Anthony Nolden. Syse's extra point was successful.
Trevor Syse had 246 passing yards and was 14 for 20, with 3 touchdowns.
Syse led the team in rushing yards with 99, while Dylan Posthuma had 76 yards and Patrick Samon had 3.
Leading the team with 105 receiving yards was Demarcus Conner, while Anthony Nolden had 101 yards, Carson Syse and Andrew Ace had 18 yards each and Dylan Posthuma had 4.
On defense, Dylan Posthuma had 6 tackles while Trevor Syse and Landry Yarborough each had 3 and Jake Fahey and Davis Richter had 2 each.
The Wildcats are seeded #4 for the WIAA Division 5 tournament. They will host #5 Poynette on Friday night. The winner goes on to face the winner of the #1 Marshall vs #8 River Valley game on Friday, October 29th.
