Keep Your Pets Safe During Excessive Heat

With excessive heat in the forecast through the week, Dane County Humane Society (DCHS) is reminding pet owners to take the extra steps necessary to keep your pets cool and safe.
“Even the healthiest pets can suffer from dehydration and heat stroke if exposed to extreme high temperatures and humidity,” says Marissa DeGroot, DCHS Public Relations Coordinator. “Make sure your pets are in a safe, cool location with plenty of water and never leave your pet alone inside a vehicle.”

Planetarium at the New Glarus Library

On Friday, July 12th, the Friends of the New Glarus Library sponsored a unique opportunity for children and adults. A portable, indoor planetarium was set up in the Village Hall Community room.
Normally one has to travel to see a planetarium building with its domed ceiling used to show projected star formations. So this was an unusual opportunity. There were actually two shows scheduled in five showings. The morning shows were geared for smaller children and while the afternoon shows were for those a bit older – or, in my case, a lot older.
