Sugar River Transit Keeps Communities Connected

Seniors need transportation for many reasons. Mainly to get where they need to go, however it may be because they no longer drive, they need help in accessing services, and even because they want or need socialization. In rural Green County, seniors who don’t drive may find themselves isolated and disconnected from the communities where they have lived and worked for many years. Take a trip north of Monroe and you will encounter a wealth of interesting spots as you venture through Monticello, New Glarus, and finally into Belleville.

Entries Sought for Wisconsin Wild Turkey, Pheasant, and Waterfowl Stamp Design Contests

Wisconsin artists have until July 20th to submit artwork for the 2018 Wild Turkey, Pheasant and Waterfowl Stamp design contests.
Funds derived from the sale of these stamps contribute to restoration and management efforts on thousands of acres of important wildlife habitat. Stamp design entries must be received or postmarked by July 20, 2017, in order to be eligible. Judging will take place in a closed session on July 27, 2017.

Mary Eunice Richardson, 93 of New Diggings, Wisconsin, died Monday, June 19, 2017, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City.
Services were at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, with Pastor Bruce Bennett officiating.  Burial is in Hazel Green Cemetery.  Friends may called from 9:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home before the service.

<strong>Hembel Named to Dean’s List for Spring Semester at UW-Eau Claire</strong>
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has named 2,267 undergraduate students to its Dean’s List for the 2017 spring semester. <strong>Matthew Hembel</strong>, New Glarus, Business, was named to the Dean’s List.

Two Charged With Burglary

Mikel L. Ewing, 21, Bristol, IL, and Daesha T. Rayford, 19, Plano, IL, were both recently charged with one count of Burglary as a result of the investigation into the Burglary of the Five Star Cellular Store, located in the Village of New Glarus.

Green County Leaders Class of 2016-2017 Graduates

Twenty-seven members of the Green County Leaders Class of 2016-2017 successfully finished the intense nine-month coursework and became Green County Leaders graduates on May 17th at a ceremony and celebration held in their honor at the New Glarus Hotel.

2017-2018 New Glarus Dairy Queen Crowned

Hailey Raymond, daughter of Alishia and James Johnson and Nicole and Ross Raymond, was crowned as the 2017-2018 New Glarus Dairy Queen on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.
The ceremony was held in conjunction with the Stuessy-Kuenzi American Legion Auxiliary's Annual Ice Cream Social.
