Phyllis Mae Tarrell, age 85 of New Glarus, and former Platteville resident, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017.
Per her wishes, no services will be held.
The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus assisted the family.

Dear Editor,
Just 165 households could stop substantial rate increases or a multi-million-dollar referendum to meet DNR requirements for Monticello’s sewer permit, because grant money for updating our wastewater facility is available.
Thankfully, Village Board and Public Works Committee members offered to go the extra mile for the next several weeks to drum up information the village needs to apply for this grant. That means we will be knocking on numerous doors, identifying ourselves and asking residents to please complete an income survey.

Cole Walter and Darris Schuett, both New Glarus eighth graders, had the experience of a lifetime in Dallas, Texas, at USA Football's International Bowl VIII. Cole and Darris went through a two-stage try-out process that included two-day and five-day intensive football camps and games in both Milwaukee and Canton, Ohio. Their hard work at these events paid off and they both received an invite to represent Team USA in Dallas at the Cowboy's AT&T Stadium.
