Monticello Resident Concerned About Lack of Communication Between Board and Residents

The Monticello Village Board met on January 18, 2017. Trustee Robert Harvey was absent. The boardroom in Village Hall was filled to capacity, with some people standing in the hallway. During the Public Comment section of the meeting three people were on the agenda to speak.

Lake Montesian Fisheree

The Lake Montesian Fisheree, sponsored by the Monticello Lions Club and Green County Conservation League, will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017, from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. 
There is no entry fee, but you must purchase a raffle ticket to be eligible for fish prizes.  Raffle tickets are $1.00 each, or 6/$5.00, with drawings starting at 1:30 p.m.  Cash prizes of $100, $200, and $300 will be given.  Prizes for the largest fish in various species and largest fish overall will be awarded.

Deadline to Order Chicken Approaches For the 19th Annual Chickaree

It's the last chance to order your grilled chickens for the Chickaree, which will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2017.
<strong>Chickens must be pre-ordered by Friday, January 27, 2017. </strong> Cost is $7.00 per each half chicken (no dinners-just chicken).
Pre-order your half chickens in advance at Gempeler's Supermarket, Boar's Nest, Eagle Pass, The Kooler, Luckys Farm Tavern, T&D's Bar &amp; Grill, or the Rathskellar.
Pay and pick up your order at the octagon shelter between 11:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m., on January 29th.

Monticello M.S. FCCLA Senior Citizen Meal

The Monticello Middle School FCCLA will be hosting their annual Senior Citizen Meal on Tuesday, January 31st. The meal will be held in the FCS room from 5:00 p.m.-5:45 p.m.
This year we will once again be serving soup. Each member of the middle school FCCLA will bring a side dish or dessert to contribute to the meal. The meal is free and we welcome all Monticello area senior citizens (60 and over) to attend.

Monticello PTO Euchre Tournament

The Monticello PTO is holding their 2nd Annual Euchre Tournament on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the Edelweiss Country Club in New Glarus. Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the tournament starting at 7:00 p.m. There will also be a silent auction of many great items that have been generously donated from area businesses.

Washington Reformation Church Chili Day

The Women’s Guild at Washington Reformation Church will be holding their annual Chili Day on Sunday, February 5, 2017, from 10:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
The menu includes Chili, Sandwiches and Desserts. Along with Chili Day, they are holding a raffle, with prizes including a handmade quilt and a fleece blanket. Raffle tickets are $1.00 each or six for $5.00. The raffle drawing will be held at 2:00 p.m.

Monticello Area Historical Society January Meeting

The Monticello Historical Society will be holding their January meeting on Thursday, January 26th, beginning with the business meeting at 7:00 p.m. Following the short business meeting, they will host New Glarus historian and author, Kim Tschudy, who will be presenting a program on Green County Blacksmith Shops and the blacksmiths who started these shops in the early years of Green County and the shops that are still in operation, including one which was started in 1856.

The Sugar River Senior Center is holding their Annual Euchre Card Party on Sunday, January 29, 2017, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Come Play Bingo at the American Legion

The doors open at Noon on Sunday, January 29th, and Bingo begins at 1:00 p.m., at the Duppler-Smith Post #460 American Legion, 2 West Pearl Street, Belleville.

School District of Belleville Post-Referendum Update

The School District of Belleville is grateful for the support of the community in the passing of the Referendum this past November. Plans to move forward are now underway and the district is committed to keeping the community, parents, students and staff updated and involved in the process. Community chats will be held in the coming months and are intended to provide information as well as provide an opportunity for community members to ask questions and give feedback.
