New Glarus High School Class of 2022 Looking for Volunteer Opportunities

New Glarus High School will be giving back to the community by volunteering to help community members on Friday, May 6th. The Class of 2022 is looking to help senior citizens, businesses and other community members who are in need of some volunteer labor.

New Glarus FCCLA Members Attend State Leadership Conference

New Glarus Middle and High School FCCLA chapters attended the FCCLA State Leadership Conference in Wisconsin Dells from Monday, 4/4-Wednesday, 4/6. There were a total of eight students in attendance from New Glarus Middle and High School.
Over the course of the three days students attended breakout sessions, heard keynote speakers, gained leadership skills and competed in STAR Events. Our very own Kaia Morrison, 7th grade, was awarded the WI FCCLA Outstanding Member award.

Village of Monticello Spring Clean Up Day and E-Waste Event

All Items Must be Separated/Sorted and Curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022.
All debris, excluding brush, must be in an area not larger than 4’wide x 10’ long x 4’ high.
Items accepted are: Furniture and miscellaneous junk, burn barrels to be discarded must be empty, brush and scrap lumber with no tree limbs over 6” in diameter or 8’ in length – in separate pile stacked parallel with street, paint cans must be empty, or open with paint completely dried.

Monticello Prepares for Village-Wide Garage Sales May 19-21, 2022

Garage Sale Enthusiasts - It is time again to begin thinking about the Monticello Chamber of Commerce annual community-wide spring garage sales. The sales will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 19, 20, 21. The Annual Community-wide Garage Sale features sales throughout the community, clearly indicated on maps with categories of sales items. The spreadsheet will also indicate which days the sale will be held. The maps, with spreadsheets, will be available at multiple locations in Monticello.

If you are pursuing a career related to agriculture and are currently halfway through your coursework in college, technical school or a short course program, you are eligible to apply for a scholarship for your educational expenses through the Monticello FFA Alumni.

Monticello Easter Egg Hunt

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Monticello Village Park on Saturday, April 16, 2022, beginning at 10:30 a.m. sharp. Don’t be late or you’ll miss it!!
The youngest age group is 0-2 years and the oldest age group is fourth grade. The Easter Bunny will be present to greet the children and will also be available for photos.
We suggest that the children bring their favorite basket, wear appropriate footwear and dress accordingly.

BPD Participating in Drug Take Back Day

The Belleville Police Department, in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will hold a Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Belleville Police Station, 61 Frederick Street, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

DATCP Farm Center Releases Online Farm Culture Course for Agricultural Service Providers

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s (DATCP) Farm Center announced today the release of a free virtual course that will help agricultural service providers understand the unique stresses and challenges of farming, handle difficult conversations, and recognize signs and symptoms of stress with farm clients. Funded through Gov. Tony Evers’ 2021-23 biennial budget, this course is a part of the Farm Center’s Farmer Wellness Program that creates and connects Wisconsin farmers to mental health resources.
