Summer Haze to Perform at Forever 56 Foundation Fundraiser

Summer Haze, a local band that has been playing since the 60s, will play at Sugar River Lanes in Belleville on Saturday, January 26, 2019, as a benefit for the Forever 56 Foundation, created in memorial of Eric O’Connor who died in an accident in 2017. The Forever 56 Foundation benefits local youth through scholarships and sponsorships. The band got together to reminisce on old memories and compile Summer Haze: As Legend Has It. They hope to you enjoy the biography and see you all out on January 26th for another reunion show!

Belleville Blood Drive

Many people want to give back to the community but may not have a lot of time to volunteer. In only about an hour, volunteer blood donors can help save lives and feel instant gratification.
The community is invited to give back and help save lives by donating blood on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at St. Mary of Lourdes, 221 Frederick Street, Belleville.

Winter Bingo

Duppler-Smith American Legion Post #460 Belleville will be holding Winter Bingo on Sunday, January 27th, Sunday, February 24th, and Sunday, March 31st.
Doors open at Noon, Bingo starts at 1:00 p.m. Cash Prizes determined by number of players. Food and refreshments served.

Carey Schneider, representing New Glarus Masonic Lodge #310, recently presented $1,000 scholarships to Zachery Frick, Jared Carney and Matthew Jackson. Zachery is attending UW-River Falls, Jared is attending UW-Platteville and Matthew is attending UW-Milwaukee.

New Glarus Police Lieutenant Placed on Restricted Duty

On Wednesday, January 16, at 9:28 p.m., an anonymous email was sent to over 40 recipients in law enforcement and media outlets. The email made allegations of misconduct against New Glarus Police Lieutenant Jeff Sturdevant. The email was signed “concerned citizen”.
Sturdevant was suspended from his part-time position with the Green County Sheriff’s Office pending the results of an outside investigation.

Super Blood Wolf Moon On Sunday Night

Despite the sub-zero temperatures on Sunday night, January 20, 2019, there was a beautiful sight in the night sky, the Super Blood Wolf Moon.
To break it down, a Wolf Moon is a full moon occurring in January. During a total eclipse, the moon appears red, known as a Blood Moon. The Super Blood Wolf Moon is a total lunar eclipse that occurs in January and coincides with when the moon is approximately at its closest distance to Earth, resulting in a moon that appears larger than usual (a Supermoon).
