Parade Entries Needed

New Glarus Homecoming is just around the corner, the New Glarus/Monticello Knights will face the Iowa Grant Panthers. The homecoming parade will be held on Friday, September 29th.
Line-up will start at 1:30 p.m., in the Parking lot across from the high school, with the parade beginning at 2:00 p.m. All businesses and organizations are invited to put an entry in the parade.

New Glarus Middle and High School Students Participate In the 80th Annual Wilhelm Tell Play

Over Labor Day weekend, New Glarus Middle and High School students participated in the 80th Annual Wilhelm Tell Play. The Play was on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and was held at the Wilhelm Tell grounds, just outside of New Glarus. The Play is a New Glarus tradition and one that was a lot of fun for New Glarus Middle and High School students and staff members.

Village of Monticello Approves Moratorium on Destruction of Milkweed

The Monticello Village Board met on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. All board members were in attendance.
The meeting began with approval of invoices and September payroll.
In the Public Works Committee section, it was reported that the new garbage truck should be delivered in mid-October. There was also a discussion about purchasing a new pickup truck to replace the 2008 Ford.

September Meeting of the Monticello Area Historical Society

The Monticello Area Historical Society (MAHS) will meet at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017, in the Zwingli UCC lounge, 416 E. Lake Avenue, Monticello.
The program is titled “If Walls Could Talk.” Turner Hall will celebrate its 150th anniversary next year, and Sherry Anderegg will talk about why it was built and the significant part it has played in local history over all the years.

Monticello Fall Clean Up to be Held

All items for Monticello’s Fall Clean Up must be separated/sorted and curbside by 7:00 a.m., Monday, October 16, 2017.
<strong>Refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners and anything containing Freon must have the Freon removed by a licensed person and a certified statement needs to be received by the village clerk by Monday, October 9, 2017. </strong>
All debris, excluding brush, must be in an area not larger than four feet wide by ten feet long by four feet high.

Washington Reformation Church Annual Dinner

Washington Reformation Church’s Annual Dinner will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017, serving from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
The menu includes all you can eat Roast Pork Loin, Mashed Potatoes, Vegetable Medley and Desserts.
Tickets are available in advance for $10.00 from Freitag Financial Services or by calling the church at (608) 938-4550. Tickets are also available at the door on Sunday, for $12.00.
Washington Reformation Church is located west of the Village of Monticello, at N6026 Church Road. Everyone is welcome.

Belleville Community Blood Drive

Many people want to give back to the community but may not have a lot of time to volunteer. In only about an hour, volunteer blood donors can help save lives and feel instant gratification.
The community is invited to give back and help save lives by donating blood on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at St Mary of Lourdes, 221 Frederick Street, Belleville.

St. Francis to Hold Annual Dinner

St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Belleville, is hosting its annual church dinner on Sunday, October 1, 2017, in the St. Mary of Lourdes Church Hall located at 227 Frederick Street. Carry out orders and drive through pick up will be available at the St. Francis of Assisi Church, located at 338 S. Harrison Street.
The dinner, which is all you can eat served family style, features Roast Pork, Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, Applesauce, Coleslaw, Dinner Rolls and Homemade Pies. Serving time is from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

On Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., everyone is invited to Sugar River Park in Belleville for a Public Safety Day with your community public safety partners. All activities are free, so come out and have a great Public Safety Day with us. There will be food, drinks, kids castle bounce house, vehicle displays by several public safety agencies, and more.
