Monticello Library Hosts National Mississippi River Museum

Bats of the Stewart Tunnel

The Wisconsin DNR – Bat Program, along with The Friends of the Badger and Sugar River State Trails and the Belleville Public Library, are presenting a program on the bats of the Stewart Tunnel. The event will be held, Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., at the Belleville Community Park Shelter.
Bats are amazing animals that make up 20% of the world’s mammal diversity! Wisconsin is home to eight bat species. Locally, the Badger State Trail’s Stewart Tunnel serves as an important bat hibernaculum (overwintering habitat).

Mary L. O'Brien, age 60, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison surrounded by her family of complications of heart and lung disease <u><strong>not</strong></u> from COVID. She was born on May 6, 1962, at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, the daughter of Paul and Patricia (Freitag) Oppliger.

Elaine R. Funseth, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Heartsong Assisted Living in Belleville. She was born on July 23, 1935 in New Glarus, WI, the daughter of Wilbert and Hulda (Heuer) Elmer.

RUBY L. ELMER

Ruby L. Elmer, age 98, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 10, 2022. Her permanent address is now in heaven. She was born on December 3, 1923, to Alvin and Sarah (Olson) Helmenstine in Mount Horeb.
She married Harold Elmer on February 17, 1943, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and they enjoyed 71 years together.

<strong>Carr Named to Bradley University’s Spring 2022 Dean’s List</strong>
Seth Carr, Brooklyn, is one of 1,700 students who was named to Bradley’s Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 semester. Carr is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester on a 4.0 scale.
