Republican Party of Green County Caucus Meeting

The Republican Party of Green County will hold their annual Caucus meeting at the American Legion, 1627 12th Avenue, Monroe, Wisconsin, on Saturday, February 12th, at 9:00 a.m.
Delegates and alternates will be chosen for the State GOP Convention and the 2nd Congressional District Caucus. Guest speakers will be State Representatives Amy Loudenbeck, Todd Novak and State Senator Howard Marklein. Party members are encouraged to attend.

Thomson Outlines Possible Library Plan

Dear Editor,
So, if offered, should the Village/Library Board buy The Zwingli House property from Swiss Church as a site for the new New Glarus Library? This site is great i.e., plenty of available space - over 20,000 sq feet; parking; sewer and water (lower cost compared to other sites looked at over the last 20 years); the Village Park and swimming pool; on the school bus route; close to the downtown. Police, Fire and EMS are close by. No library site around here has these advantages.

Legler Asks for Church to be Kept Out of Schools

Dear Editor,
As a grandparent of children in the New Glarus School system, I am happy to see the individual interests in our school board candidates for the primaries on February 15th, knowing that the position on our schools board is critical in ensuring that the children’s education is of quality. What I am not happy to see is that an organized religion is inserting their entity into a publicly elected position in our town, and to make matters worse, the publicly elected position involves our children and schools.

Gladys T. Hartwig, age 96, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at UW Hospital in Madison. She was born on April 28, 1925, in Oregon, WI, the daughter of William and Evelyn (Tourdot) Hartwig.

Monticello Schools to Hold Community COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

The Monticello Schools, located at 334 S. Main Street in Monticello, will be hosting a community COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Monday, February 21, 2022. The clinic will be held in the district office from 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
Vaccines available include the Pfizer, Moderna and Pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines. These vaccines are free and no appointments, insurance or ID is required. The vaccine clinic is open to the public. Parents or guardians of children ages 5-17 must be present at the vaccine clinic with their child and complete a vaccine consent form.

Monticello Music Parents to Host Cabaret Dinner 2022

It has been two years since the Music Parents of Monticello have hosted this event, and we are extremely excited to host once again. This year’s event will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, in the Rehmstedt Gymnasium, with dinner being served at 1:00 p.m.
The dinner menu will be chicken, baked potato, coleslaw and a dessert. The talent portion of the show will begin soon after lunch and will show off the talents of our middle and high school vocal and instrumental students.

Green County Public Health Increasing COVID-19 Testing and Changing Testing Site Location

Beginning Thursday, February 10th, Green County Public Health is adding an additional day of COVID-19 testing and changing our testing site location to the School District of Monroe Bauer Education Center (1220 16th Ave, Monroe, Wisconsin, 53566). Testing will be available on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and Mondays from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., at this new location. The last day of testing at the shed across from Pleasant View Nursing Home on the Pleasant View Complex was on Monday, February 7th.

Trumpy Still Missing

Melissa Trumpy, 37, Monticello, was last seen on October 26, 2021. At this time, authorities have not named anyone as a person of interest in her disappearance.

Grace Church of New Glarus Sends Survey to School Board Candidates

On February 15, 2022, there will be a Primary Election for voters in the New Glarus School District. There are five candidates running for two seats. Those candidates are Bill Oemichen, Alex Bean, Heather Thornton, Ron Roesslein and Jenny Julseth.
Recently the candidates were sent surveys from the Grace Church of New Glarus.
The survey included a number of statements that the candidates were asked to mark Support, Oppose or Undecided.
The statements on the survey were:
