Novak Owes Us A Refund

Dear Editor,
Assembly Representatives like Mr. Novak are paid $53,000 per year by taxpayers, or about $4,417 per month. While his constituents’ health and livelihoods have been ravaged by COVID (not to mention COVID’s adverse effects on the schools, churches, parks, libraries and other institutions in our Assembly District), the Republican controlled Legislature, of which Novak is a senior member, has chosen not to go into regular session since March!

I'm Tired of the Hate Ads

Dear Editor,
Novak’s supporters try to sell him as a decent guy, but his outrageous ads against Kriss Marion prove otherwise. He’s no different than his idols Trump and Vos, personally directing vile ads he knows are based on lies.
Novak knows Kriss Marion is such a moderate Democrat that she’s sometimes criticized by progressives for being too conservative. He also knows that she’s a farmer, a grandmother and a nice person. Yet, his TV ads scream that she’s a dangerous extremist, and a “Nazi.” That’s about as low as it gets.

I support Kriss in her race against Todd Novak for Assembly District 51.
Kriss has been a consistent advocate for clean water. She has demonstrated her commitment to working with area farmers to solve our ground-water problems on a positive, consensual basis.

I have been reading the deluge of letters (hardly any from Green County residents) that you have been receiving in support of Assembly candidate Kriss Marion. Those letters appear to be a carefully organized effort put together by her campaign, which is its right to do.

Captain Alfred Lienhardt, retired from active duty with the armed forces on October 21, at the Camp Beale, Calif., separation center after four years of service. A veteran of two years overseas duty, Capt. Lienhardt was with Allied Forces Headquarters in the European theater of war. He was awarded the French Croix de Guerre with one silver star and the European-African Middle Eastern theater ribbon. Capt. Lienhardt returns to civilian life upon the expiration of his terminal leave with 90 discharge points.

The Belleville Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to step outside and ponder possibilities over probabilities, for our families, businesses and the greater community, as part of a UFO Day Dark Sky Event: a shared experience of viewing the night sky, with less intrusion from artificial light. Participating is simple and free: shut off all residential and business exterior lights for 30 minutes – and any interior lights that “spill” outside – as much as is safely possible at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, October 31, 2020. Then, step onto your porch or back yard and look to the skies.

This is a safe, social distancing option for Halloween celebration! Adults and children may participate by decorating your car and/or yourself and driving through the parade. <strong>Please do NOT throw out candy due to COVID-19. Drivers must be at least 21 years of age.</strong>
