Monticello Christmas Stocking Fund

As the holidays approach, we want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has so generously supported Monticello’s Christmas Stocking Fund. The Christmas Stocking Fund is fortunate to have received monetary gifts and donations from many individuals and organizations throughout the year. The community’s support of the Christmas Stocking Fund is truly remarkable - it is yet another reason why Monticello is such a great place to live!

Monticello Track and Field Raising Money for New Record Display

The Monticello Track and Field program is seeking monetary donations to cover the cost of placing a new record display in the Elmer Lemon Gymnasium. The total cost for this project is $1,746.00.
If you would be interested in helping with this project, please send your monetary donations to the following address: Monticello Schools, Attention Coach Brian Butzler, 334 S. Main St., Monticello, WI 53570.
Our goal is to have the funds by December of 2017, and have an unveiling at our homecoming basketball game in January 2018.

Citizen Science Belleville to Help Test Climate Change Science

At 9:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 9, in room 412 of Belleville High School (365 W. Church Street), Citizen Science Belleville will publicly launch a new project to help “ground truth” satellite data used to measure climate change and its causes. Through a program organized by GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment), they will measure temperature and cloud cover in Belleville while satellites measure the same quantities from overhead.

2017-2018 Belleville Community Calendars Are Available

The Belleville Community Calendar was distributed to school-age children and is available to community members.
Community Calendars are available from the Main Office in each of the schools in the district, and community members can pick up a calendar at Burreson’s Foods, Belleville Public Library, Village Hall, and Belleville Area Senior Center.
The calendar is sponsored by BCHIP, the Belleville PTO, the Belleville Community Club, and the Belleville School District.

High School Students of the Month - October

Belleville High School teachers nominated Students-of-the-Month for October and recognized them with a pizza lunch on Thursday, November 9.  Teachers noted that these students shared several qualities including talent, work ethic, and a positive attitude. Thank you to Marcus Theaters for donating movie tickets to BHS students each month!

Middle School Students of the Month - October

On Friday, November 3, Belleville Middle School staff recognized the Students-of-the-Month from October. Teachers spoke to all of the 7th and 8th graders about why they nominated each student. Students received a certificate, Catty Shack buck, and the opportunity to put their handprint up in the Commons. Congratulations to this great group of Wildcats!

Students Encouraged to Create Civics-Related Documentaries For C-SPAN'S 14th Annual StudentCam Video Competition

Mediacom and C-SPAN announce the start of this year’s annual student documentary competition, and encourage middle school and high school students to participate in the video documentary competition known as “StudentCam.” Students are asked to create a short five- to seven-minute video documentary and submit it online between now and January 18, 2018.

ARTHUR E. GRINDLE

Arthur E. Grindle, age 94 of Primrose Township, WI, died on Monday, November 13, 2017, at Ingleside Nursing Home with family at his side. He was born February 9, 1923, in Dodgeville, WI, to Clarence and Agnes (Stombaugh) Grindle.

Casting Call: Extras Needed for Travel Wisconsin Commercial Shoot

Calling all Green County and surrounding area residents! The Wisconsin Department of Tourism is looking for volunteer extras to be part of a new Travel Wisconsin TV commercial that will be filmed in Monroe, on Wednesday, December 6.
The Department is opening up its commercial casting to the state’s true stars – its residents! Qualifications to take part in filming are simple:
1.  Participants must be available to spend the day in Monroe on Wednesday, December 6.

Programs held in Belleville, Monticello and New Glarus to Honor Veterans

The Belleville Veterans Day program was held on Wednesday, November 8, in the Belleville High School Gym.
During the program, three veterans were presented with Quilts of Valor by representatives of the Sugar River Quilts of Valor group.

The Monticello Veterans Day Program was held on Thursday, November 9, in the High School Gym.
The Washington 4-H Club members led the Pledge of Allegiance, and veterans were honored with readings and music.
