Conference Champions!

The Sugar River Wrestlers hosted Brodhead/Juda on January 19th.
Justin Knoebl, wrestling at 113 lbs, won over Alex Goebeli, and scored 4 points.
Max Gerner, wrestling at 120 lbs, lost to Blake Burns.
John Chenoweth, wrestling at 126 lbs, won over Theo Policastro, and scored 6 points.
Jack Dietrich, wrestling at 138 lbs, lost to Jeffery Williams.
Hayden Latsch, wrestling at 145 lbs, lost to Tommy Grabowski.
Tyler Varney, wrestling at 152 lbs, lost to Nick Hack.

Trivia Night is on Saturday, February 6th

Avalanche Co-op Hockey Had Busy Week

The Monroe Co-op Avalanche hockey team played at home on January 12th against the Sauk Prairie Eagles. Tyler Johnson scored the team’s only goal in the first period, with an assist from Jared Cline. The Eagles were up at the end of the first, 6-1. Tyler Johnson and Cade Martin both scored in the second period. At the end of the second, the score was Sauk Prairie 9, Monroe 3. The Avalanche scored the only goal in the third, Tyler Johnson assisted by Cade Martin.
The final score of the game was Sauk Prairie 9, Monroe 4.

Belleville Girls Beat Deerfield

The Deerfield Demons made the trip down to Belleville on January 12th. The Lady Wildcats were leading at half-time, 27-16.
Coach Kerry Steinagel said, “This game we started out from the beginning with our defensive pressure. The girls were putting pressure on Deerfield, with defense that created offense. During the game we had eight steals, with six of them coming in the first half. The girls converted on these steals with 13 of our points coming off of turnovers. During the first half the girls were sharing the ball well.”

New Glarus Boys Win Over Cambridge and Wisconsin Heights

The New Glarus boys led by just one point at the end of the first half in their home game on January 12th against Cambridge, 25-24. Coach Travis Sysko said, “We had a great team win tonight. I thought we played well and was happy with our composure down the stretch.”
The Knights never gave up the lead in the second half of the game, and won a close one with a final score of New Glarus 65, Cambridge 62.

Ponies Lose to Benton

Jon Errthum scored 25 points and Zach Price put 24 on the board during Monday night’s game at Benton. The Ponies dominated most of the first half of the game, but the Zephyrs tied it up at 38 for the half-time score.
During the second half, Benton took the lead for good and took the win. The final score was Benton 80, Monticello 68.
Jon Errthum led the Ponies with 14 rebounds, Dez Hanenberger had six rebounds and Logan Marty contributed five rebounds.
