Third Annual Smarty-Pants Smack Down Trivia Contest

For the third year in a row, Barnaby’s Monticello House will be host to the Smarty-Pants Smack Down Trivia Contest on Friday, November 6, 2015, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The trivia contest is a fundraiser to benefit the Monticello High School Girls and Boys Basketball Programs.
Teams must have 6-10 players, and each player pays $10.00. Players must be 18 years or older.
There will be mini-games, raffles, snacks, drinks, door prizes and more!

Halloween Food Drive

Members of the Monticello High School FCCLA will be conducting their annual trick or treat food drive on Halloween. Members will be going door-to-door in the village of Monticello on Saturday, October 31st, to request donations of nonperishable food items or cash.
Members will start canvassing the village at 3230 p.m. All donations will be given to Green Cares Food Pantry, which serves all of Green County. We appreciate your support of this service project.

The Monticello Area Historical Society will meet on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 7:00 p.m., at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Avenue.
This month’s program on Signal Corp. will be presented by Emil (Mike) Rufener. Guests are welcome.

Belleville School Board Seeks Community Involvement in Considering Facility Needs

In an effort to continue building resident engagement in finding a sustainable solution to address the district’s numerous facility needs, the Belleville School Board will outline a plan for engaging the community in a process to evaluate the district’s facility needs. The plan will be a continuation of work conducted earlier through a comprehensive facility study.

Throughout this nation’s history, America’s soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen have bravely answered the call to defend our freedom, to come to the aid our friends and allies, and to turn back aggressors.

Reverend Charles G. Workman

Charles Garrison Workman, New Glarus, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at the age of 99 years. Charlie was born on August 10, 1916, in Chicago, IL, the son of Edward William and Lena (Ehle) Workman.

Joyce Irene Roth, age 82 of New Glarus, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at her home. She was born on January 9, 1933, at Mott, North Dakota, to her parents, Jacob and Irene (Schumacher) Tschudy.

Alice A. Jeglum

Alice Ann Jeglum, age 87 of New Glarus, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 18, 2015. She was born on December 16, 1927, at Darlington, WI, to her parents, Jacob and Emma (Nyfeler) Ischi.
Alice graduated from Darlington High School and then went on to graduate from the Madison Business College. She was united in marriage to Howard Jeglum and the couple farmed for 20 years until moving to New Glarus. Alice was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
