New Glarus Baseball Falls to Waterloo in Round One of Regional Competition

On Monday, June 7th, the New Glarus baseball team played at Waterloo and won, 9-7.
The Knights kicked off the first inning with 3 runs, adding 2 more in the third, 1 in the fourth and 3 in the sixth. Waterloo attempted to stage a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, but fell short by 2 runs.
Peyton Mendleski was 3x3 at bat with 2 runs and 2 RBI, while Cooper Dreyfus was 3x4 with 2 runs and 3 RBI and Leyton Mihlbauer was 2x5 with 2 runs and 1 RBI. Eli Zimmerman scored 2 runs and Easton Dreyfus scored 1.
Eli Zimmerman pitched 4 innings, striking out 3, while Brett Warrell pitched 1 inning, Leyton Mihlbauer pitched 1.1 inning and Kylo Barker pitched .2 inning, striking out 1.
The round one Regional WIAA game was played on June 10th, in New Glarus, against #5 seeded Waterloo. The Knights were seeded #4 for the tournament. The Pirates came looking for revenge, and they got it. The final score was Waterloo 7, New Glarus 3.
New Glarus fell behind early on in the game and despite scoring some runs in the fifth and sixth innings, Waterloo put three across home plate in the seventh to ensure their victory.
Easton Dreyfus was 1x3 at bat with 2 runs scored, while Nathan Streiff went 1x3 at bat with 1 run scored.
Kylo Barker pitched 5 innings, striking out 5, while Carter Siegenthaler pitched 1 inning striking out 1 and Peyton Mendleski pitched 1 inning, giving up zero hits.
